E-Safety Policy - Master copy

E-Safety / Online Safety Policy

This policy is applicable to all Governors, staff, associates, volunteers and Student Teachers,

all pupils in the School, including those in an EYFS setting,

plus any other “guest users” of the School’s information and communication technology.

Cheadle Hulme School aims both to support the whole School community to keep safe while online and to encourage individuals to harness the opportunities for learning and communication that are offered by digital and information technologies.

In order to ensure that this policy is implemented effectively the School will adopt the use of Acceptable Use Policy Agreements for different members of the School community.  Breaches of those agreements are likely to result in disciplinary action.

The School will:

comply with and take account of all current statutory guidance in relation to online safety;

help pupils identify where they may be at risk from dangers such as cyberbullying, trolling, cybercrime, grooming online, hacking, exposure to extremist or obscene material;

take all reasonable steps to make the School’s IT infrastructure as safe and secure as is reasonably possible using trained staff, appropriate technological filters and monitoring systems and external sources of support;

regularly review and audit the safety and security of the School’s technical systems;

provide all users with clear guidance as to the steps they should take to keep themselves safe while using IT;

establish clear guidelines for users as to what is acceptable usage in relation to IT;

have clear guidelines for reporting breaches of this policy and acceptable use and appropriate measures to deal with any breaches;

have clear guidance for anyone using mobile devices while on School premises and for staff using mobiles to communicate with pupil(s) and parent(s)/carer(s) at any time;

have a clear, progressive education programme to raise pupils’ awareness of the risks and the importance of maintaining privacy while using technology;

provide parents/carers with information about steps they can take to support their children and the School in achieving safe and responsible use of technology;

carry out an annual review of CHS’s approach to online safety as a whole, supported by an annual risk assessment, that considers and reflects the risks the pupils may face.

Further detail about the practice and guidelines which create an “e-safety culture” will be referred to in the School’s
