The whole world has been shaken and all human activities came to a stand still as n -Covid 19 struck human civilisation. Amidst the pandemic of n-Covid 19 , doctors and nurses became the lone warrior against this unknown forign entity keeping their life at stake. Although the virus showed potential life threat among all ages of human beings, its lethality was mostly restricted to aged people. But the panic and trauma among human beings regarding these virus was increasing at an alarming rate. In this scenario,The Department of Botany , Malda college , in collaboration with IQAC,Malda college, organised a National webinar titled , “Potentials of Indian medicine and Herbs against Covid 19 and ways to combat the Mental trauma arising in this pandemic scenario” to aware students and community, through Google meet on 1st July ,2020 from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Dr. Sudipta Kumar Sil, Professor, Department of Botany, University of Gour Banga,DrSantosh Kumar Dey, BHMS, (Homeopathy), Dr Partha Pratim Dasgupta, MBBS,MD, Ex-Malda Medical College and Hospital were the Key note speakers for this webinar. Nearly 250 participants attended the webinar including students and faculties. The webinar began with the Introductory speech from Dr Manas kumar Baidya,Principal,Malda College followed by speeches from Sri Pijush Kanti Saha, Faculty, Department of Botany and TCS, and Sri Prabhas Chaudhuri, coordinator ,IQAC, Malda College. Sri Santanu Gupta,Head of the Department, Department of Botany anchored the whole webinar with able support from technical assistant Sri Biprateep Mandal. The first keynote speaker ,Dr Sudipta Kumar Sil, Professor, Department of Botany, University of Gour Banga, presented a powerpoint indicating the medicinal potentialities of traditional Indian herbs. Also the potentiality of normal herbs against these covid 19 was also disclosed by the speaker in his 45 min span of speech. In the second technical session, Dr Partha Pratim Dasgupta, MBBS,MD, Ex-Malda Medical College and Hospital , mainly emphasized on the trauma human being were facing in the pandemic situation. He also stressed that human beings should practice meditation and yoga to boost up the natural immunity until proper medicine arrives in the market. DrSantosh Kumar Dey, BHMS, (Homeopathy), in the third technical session gave a clear idea about homeopathy medicines that can be effective against these SARS group of Viruses. He also emphasised how to motivate ourselves under these trauma and mental stress. According to Dr Dey, it is more our mind than our immunity that is under threat. Also the benefit of having a normal and balanced diet was also emphasised by him to boost up the immunity. He also suggested the possible ways to overcome the stress arising among kinds in this pandemic scenario. After the three technical sessions , a questionnaire session was organised where all the three Keynote speakers answered the questions. The webinar ended with a vote of thanks from Dr Masidur Alam, Assistant Professor, Department Of Botany.

An online meeting with the UG/BCA (Part II and III) students was organized by the IQAC of Malda College on 15th July, 2020 at 4.30 through Youtube live to make them acquainted with the process of attending online Internal examination. Considering the surge of Covid-19 pandemic in India and nationwide lockdown imposed by the Government of India, IQAC and Examination Committee of Malda College decided to conduct the internal examination in online mode. Considering the curiosity and concern of the students regarding the exact system/procedure of this examination, IQAC decided to meet the students and relate the same through Youtube. Prior to the meeting, students were provided with a ‘Quick Contact Form’ where they put their questions and those questions were addressed by Principal and members of IQAC.

The Department of English of Malda College published the Monsoon 2020-21 issue of the Departmental Magazine "Rain Reign". The issue was driven by the motif of maintaining positivity among the students in a time when prolonged quarantined state due to the surge of Covid-19 infection had generated the ambience of awe and uncertainty. This issue attempted to engage the students in their interests and whet the creative oeuvre during the time of pandemic induced crisis, and, hence carried an alternative title "Quarantine Flairs".

During the Covid-19 ( CoronaVirus) Pandemic situation, when Country spent her lockdown and all the education institutions were fully closed, academicians, teachers and students at home and felt bored, our life uncertain, no one knows how long we will remain under this situation. The spread of CoronaVirus disease has affected almost all the spheres of our life, physically, mentally, socially, economically and psychosocially or in the emotional fields. Education particularly classroom teaching has been hampered. In such a situation, the Department of Sanskrit and IQAC, Malda College, malda jointly organised a two days national webinar on 'Life management vs pandemic situation : contents and contexts in Sanskrit literature ' on 17th & 18th August, 2020. Through this webinar, the keynote speaker, resource persons, and paper presenters have shared their ideas on life management vs pandemic situation.
Webinar started at 3 pm with the introductory speech of Mr. Amulya Sarkar, Assistant Professor & Head, dept. Of Sanskrit, Malda College, Malda. Almost 410 participants and 20 Paper presenters participated in the webinar through the Googlemeet link and the YouTube link.
At the very beginning Dr. Manas Kumar Baidya, principal, Malda College, Malda gave his welcome address and Mr. Prabhas Choudhury, coordinator, IQAC, Malda College, Malda delivered the inaugural speech. In this session Professor Brajakishoe Swain delivered his keynote address and he has given a lot of information about the webinar.
This session ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Uady Sarkar, joint convener of the webinar organizing committee.
Immediately after the inaugural session, the webinar has two plenary sessions and two technical sessions for resource persons and paper presenters. First day, the plenary session was chaired by Professor Brajakishore Swain and the resource person Professor Chandan Bhattacharya. Second day, the plenary session was chaired by Professor Taraknath Adhikary and the resource person was Dr. Subhrajit Sen. They have painted out and discussed a lot of things in Their presentations. In the technical session, 20 young scholars have presented their paper in the webinar.
Finally the webinar ended with the valuable speech of Mr. Prabhas Choudhury, IQAC, Coordinator and with the vote of thanks by Mr. Uday Sarkar, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Sanskrit, Malda College, Malda. He extended his heartfelt thanks to the chief guest, inaugurator, keynote speaker, resource persons, presenters, participants technical support staff, faculty members and students & congratulated the organizing committee for organizing such a webinar. At 7 pm Mr. Amulya Sarkar, Convener of the organizing committee officially announced the webinar is over.

A blood donation camp was organized by Malda College in the college premises on 5th September, 2020. Due to COVID 19 induced quarantine and lock down generated a crisis of blood in hospitals of Malda town. This blood donation camp aimed to mitigate this shortage of blood at some extent and encourage other institutions/clubs to organize such blood donation camps forthwith maintaining the protocols of sanitation and hygiene. 23 units of blood were collected from 23 donors. The Principal of Malda College presented certificates to each donor and volunteer with a sense of contentment and appreciation.

The Department of English of Malda College successfully conducted a 30 days' Communicative English certificate course entirely in online mode from 20th September, 2020 to 18th October, 2020. 60 applicants were selected following the first-come, first-serve, admission method. A nominal admission fee of ₹ 200 (two hundred only) was charged from students.The curriculum of this course, that ranged from the basic level of grammar/syntax and phonetics to the theoretical approach to effective communication, was designed to offer the students an insight of the proximal extent of varied verbal and non-verbal languages that function in effective communications, to develop an awareness of the trending and hackneyed practices in English language use and their contextual applications. Altogether 30 routined classes were taken by the faculty members of the Department of English of Malda College. The admitted candidates had to attend four evaluation tests conducted online, and were provided with Certificates with grade scores.

Geographical Information System (GIS) is an important tool to the geographers of 21st century. To carry out project works and assignments based on thematic mapping,learning of GIS has become essential for undergraduate, post graduate students and research scholars. There are various GIS software available in the academic domain but recently, QGIS has become much popular among the academicians as it is available free of cost. Considering this, a workshop on Learning of QGIS was conducted by the Department of Geography, Malda College in collaboration with IQAC, Malda College on 28th and 29th September, 2020. About 1600 participants registered themselves to attend this workshop and due to a large number of participants, the workshop was conducted not only through Google Meet but it was also streamed live through YouTube. Three esteemed speakers (Dr. Mukunda Mishra of Dr. Meghnad Saha College, Sri Tanmoy Sarkar, Gazole Mahavidyalaya and Dr. Niladri Das, Hiralal Bhakat College) were invited and they delivered their valuable lectures in four technical sessions. The workshop started with the welcome speech of Sri Nanigopal Kapasia, convener of the workshop and the entire program was anchored by Dr. Mosfudar Rahaman and Ms. Lamhu Dolma Tamang, the joint conveners of the workshop. By attending the workshop, participants learned topics about fundamentals of QGIS, thematic Mapping, Digital Elevation Model, satellite imagery etc. At the end of the workshop Dr. Manas Kumar Baidya, Chairperson of the workshop delivered his insightful and motivational words which were followed by the overwhelming feedback from the participants. The programme was concluded with the valedictory speech of Sri Mithun Ray, organising secretary of the workshop. The programme was highly successful and many participants requested to organize such workshops in near future.

On 11th January, 2021, Sri Rajashri Mitra, IAS, District Magistrate of Malda and Administrator of Malda College, inaugurated the Computer Lab of the Department of Computer Science & Applications. This computer lab is well furnished with modern equipped terminals and high-end softwares are installed in the computers considering the requirement of the curriculum of the same department. The lab of DCSA, which was earlier in the same room (206), was damaged severely in a fire accident on 28 th November, 2019. Mr. Kankan Sarkar, Assistant Professor, explained how this cutting-edge lab was set up mostly by the staff of DCSA following a most cost-effective design of assemblages and interconnectivity. Mr. Mitra, IAS, and Principal of Malda College appreciated all the staff of DCSA for their brilliant effort to establish such an advanced comp[uter lab based on a minimal budget.

Malda College’s Emergency Health Care Unit was inaugurated by Rajashri Mitra, IAS, the District Magistrate of Malda and Administrator of Malda College, on 11th January, 2021, that is, on the same day of BCA Computer Lab’s inauguration.This Emergency Health Care Unit, set up in a room at the ground floor (adjacent to Teachers’ Common Room), has a single bed accommodation, first aid equipments, stethoscope, pressure meter, an oxygen cylinder, oximeter, weight machine among others. This unit, which is named as “Swasthabandhu”, aims to provide immediate primary aid to any teacher or student in case of medical emergency. Principal, Dr. Manas Kumar Baidya, informed that the college authority had already contacted doctors and trained nurses living in vicinity in this regard, and a few more medical equipment would be fetched. Mr. Pijush Kanti Saha, Secretary of Teachers’ Council of Malda College and, also, an alumnus of this college, needs a special mention for his laudable initiative and valuable contribution in setting up this emergency unit in the precinct of the college.

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে ২৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২১ মালদা কলেজ, বাংলা বিভাগের উদ্যোগে একটি বিশেষ আন্তর্জালিক বক্তৃতার আয়োজন করা হয়। বক্তা হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশিষ্ট সাহিত্যিক সেলিনা হোসেন, বাংলাদেশ। বিষয়: ভাষা আন্দোলন এবং বাংলা সাহিত্য। অনুষ্ঠানের স্বাগত ভাষণ দেন কলেজের মাননীয় অধ্যক্ষ ড. মানসকুমার বৈদ্য মহাশয়। বক্তার বক্তব্য থেকে উঠে আসে বাংলাদেশের ভাষা আন্দোলনের নানা ইতিহাস। বক্তার মূল্যবান আলোচনা ঋদ্ধ করে উপস্থিত দর্শকদের। ইউটিউব কমেন্ট বক্সে সেই মুগ্ধতার প্রকাশ তাঁরা লিখে জানান। বক্তার নিকট প্রশ্নও রাখেন। অনুষ্ঠান শেষে বক্তা যথাযথভাবে সেই প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেন। সমগ্র অনুষ্ঠানটির সুন্দর সঞ্চালনা করেন বাংলা বিভাগের সহযোগী অধ্যাপক ড. নারায়ণ চন্দ্র সাউ মহাশয়। প্রযুক্তিগত সহায়ক ছিলেন বিভাগেরই সহ অধ্যাপক ড. বিপ্লব চক্রবর্তী। ফিডব্যাক লিঙ্ক পূরণের দ্বারা ইচ্ছুক দর্শকেরা ই-শংসাপত্রও পেয়েছেন।

Report : মালদা কলেজের শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষাকর্মীবন্ধুদের" আরো মানবিক "এর প্রয়াস আজ ১২ দিনে পড়ল ।গত চার-পাঁচ দিন ধরে আমরা লক্ষ্য করছি , মালদা শহর ও পুরাতন মালদা শহরে নতুন করে করোনা আক্রান্ত পরিবারের কোন খোঁজ আসছে না ।এমনকি করোনা আক্রান্ত কোন পরিবারের কাছ থেকে নতুন করে খাবার ও ঔষধ চেয়ে আমাদের কাছে আবেদন আসে নি,এমনকি কেউ আমাদের ফোন ও করে নি । গত ১২ দিনে ধরে মালদার দুই পুর এলাকায় করোনা আক্রান্ত পরিবারকে সর্বোচ্চ ১২ দিন থেকে শুরু করে সর্বনিম্ন তিন দিন খাবার সরবরাহ করেছি । এই বিষয়টি কয়েকদিন আগে কলেজ কর্তৃপক্ষের নজরে এনেছিলাম । কলেজ কর্তৃপক্ষের পরামর্শ অনুযায়ী আগামীকাল ৬ জুন থেকে সাময়িক ভাবে করোনা আক্রান্ত পরিবারে খাবার সরবরাহ বন্ধ রাখা হচ্ছে । পরবর্তিতে যদি করোনা সংক্রমণ বৃদ্ধি পায় ,সেই পরিস্থিতিতে কলেজের সমস্ত শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষাকর্মীবন্ধুদের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে ফের করোনা আক্রান্ত পরিবারে খাবার পৌঁছনোর ব্যবস্থা করব। আগামীকাল থেকে খাবার সরবরাহ সাময়িক ভাবে বন্ধ থাকলেও, করোনা আক্রান্ত দুঃস্থ পরিবারকে ঔষধ , নেবুলাইজার ও অক্সিজেন সিলিন্ডার পৌঁছনোর কাজ চালু থাকবে । বর্তমানে কলেজের একটি অক্সিজেন সিলিন্ডার ও পাঁচটি নেবুলাইজার দিয়ে করোনা আক্রান্ত পরিবারকে পরিষেবা দেওয়া হচ্ছে । খুব শীঘ্রই "আরো মানবিক " ফান্ড থেকে আরো চারটি অক্সিজেন সিলিন্ডার কেনা হবে । যা কলেজের "স্বাস্থ্যবন্ধু" সেন্টারে থাকবে ।পাঁচটি অক্সিজেন সিলিন্ডারের মধ্যে দুইটি সর্বক্ষণের জন্য কলেজ পরিবারের জন্য কলেজেই মজুত রাখা হবে । বাকী তিনটি অক্সিজেন সিলিন্ডার দুই পুর এলাকার বাসিন্দাদের পরিষেবার জন্য রাখা হবে । কলেজের সমস্ত শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষাকর্মীবন্ধুদের ঐকান্তিক সহযোগিতা ছাড়া এই কাজ সুষ্ঠভাবে করা সম্ভব ছিল না ।সেই জন্য কলেজ পরিবারের সবাইকে অনেক অনেক ধন্যবাদ।
চিকিৎসকদের মাধ্যমে ইতিমধ্যেই আমরা সকলেই অবগত হয়েছি, যে কয়েক মাস পরই করোনার তৃতীয় ঢেউ আসছে ।করোনার তৃতীয় ঢেউ এর হাত থেকে রক্ষা পেতে হলে কি কি করণীয়, সে বিষয়ে মালদা মেডিক্যাল কলেজের সঙ্গে যৌথ ভাবে Goggle meet এর মাধ্যমে একটি সেমিনার করার উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে । সেই সেমিনারে মালদা মেডিক্যাল কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ সহ মালদা মেডিক্যাল কলেজের দুইজন বিশিষ্ট চিকিৎসক থাকবেন । আমাদের অনুরোধে ইতিমধ্যেই সেমিনারের বিষয়ে মালদা মেডিক্যাল কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ডাঃ পার্থ প্রতিম মুখোপাধ্যায় আমাদের কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ মানস কুমার বৈদ্যের কাছে ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করেছেন। মালদা মেডিক্যাল কলেজের অধ্যক্ষের সঙ্গে কথা বলে খুব শীঘ্রই সেমিনারের দিন ঘোষণা করা হবে ।

Report :গ্রীন ক্যাম্পাস কমিটির উদ্যোগে আজ ৫ জুন বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস পালন করল মালদা কলেজ । করোনার আগ্রাসে ও ২০২১ সালে আমরা যাদের হারিয়েছে , কলেজের প্রাক্তন অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ অনিরুদ্ধ সেনগুপ্ত, প্রাক্তন অধ্যাপক ডঃ পুস্পজিৎ রায়, শিক্ষাকর্মী সঞ্জয় সিংহ, গার্ডেনার মাধব দাস তাঁদের স্মৃতির উদ্দেশ্যে সেগুন গাছ লাগিয়ে বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবসে বৃক্ষরোপনের সূচনা করেন কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ মানস কুমার বৈদ্য মহাশয় । বৃক্ষরোপন করে অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ বৈদ্য বলেন , "চলতি বছরে আমরা কলেজের যাদের হারিয়েছে তাঁদের স্মৃতির উদ্দেশ্যে শ্রদ্ধা জানাতে প্রথম চারটি গাছ উৎসর্গ করা হয়েছে ।" এদিন কলেজের পুকুরের চারপাশে মোট ২০ টি সেগুন গাছ লাগানো হয় । এদিন বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবসে বৃক্ষরোপন কর্মসূচী অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন অধ্যাপক ডঃ নির্মলেন্দু মন্ডল, শিক্ষাকর্মীবন্ধু তনয় ভট্টাচার্য, সুজন নেপালী , ছাত্র সংসদের পক্ষে অমিত সেখ।

Report :আজ রবিবার সকালে মালদা কলেজ প্রাঙ্গণ থেকে আমাদের দত্তক গ্রাম খেড়িবাড়ি গ্রামের বাসিন্দাদের জন্য চার কুইন্টাল চাল, দুই বস্তা ডাল , তিন বস্তা আলু পাঠানো হল । এদিন কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ মানস কুমার বৈদ্যের নেতৃত্বে ত্রাণের গাড়ি খেড়িবাড়ির উদ্দেশ্যে রওনা হয় ।কলেজের পক্ষ থেকে আমাদের সহকর্মী তনয় ভট্টাচার্য, সুজন নেপালী ,রাজা ঝা ও হাসিরুদ্দিন খেড়িবাড়ি গ্রামে গিয়ে ত্রাণ বিলি করেছে ।
