Step 1: Write down who you are wanting to forgive and why you want to forgive them

Step 2: Write down all the unpleasant and unhappy feelings associated with this situation

Step 3: Write down all the benefits that you can think of that you may enjoy after choosing forgiveness in this situation. Think of all the various aspects of your life that will be positively influenced because of it.

Step 4: Based on the two most likely and the most helpful benefits mentioned above, write down two powerful affirmations. You will use these affirmations to motivate yourself to choose forgiveness.
They can begin with: “I forgive ___________ and wholeheartedly accept the *benefit* ____________ that it will bring” or any other wordings of your choosing.
