Dani Medagoda led the Swiss Women’s National Cricket Team out against Belgium in a historic 4-match T20I series held in Zemst, just outside Brussels, earlier this season. “A friend invited me to a women’s open day he was running,” Dani recalls. “He knew I had a bit of a cricket background and just needed someone to help out. I stuck around - and never left.”

That open day was hosted at Cossonay Cricket Club near Lausanne - a venue Dani fondly calls “the best ground in Switzerland,” nestled among postcard-worthy mountain views. It was the start of a cricketing chapter that would lead to her captaining a national side on the international stage.

As the Swiss women’s game developed, one of the less glamorous - but crucial - hurdles was kit. Ill-fitting uniforms sourced from generic sizing charts or men’s templates had been a persistent issue.

“The measurements we submitted and what we got back were crazy,” Dani said, laughing. “It looked like we were wearing rectangles. If your hips were wider, the pants were longer - so you'd fold them up three or four times. Some trousers were just like circus tents!”
