In this tutorial I will demonstrate how to use OWL’s bulk uploader to add media files to your test. If you are working with a large test, you may find this method more convenient.
Click on the Bulk Upload button and select the type of files you want to upload. Let’s choose images. First, from the drop down choose what you will be applying your files to. I will choose Items. Selected and Unselected refers to elements you choose with these check boxes. Let’s add all of them.
A numbered list of the items for my test appears here on the left. The leftmost set of numbers is to help you use this uploader. The rest represent the ordering of your test. For example, let’s move this Spain question to the bottom of the list. Now it is preceded by a 6. It is the sixth item in the list. This is not changing it’s order in the test. You can see that it is the still the first item in item set four of section one. If you’re not sure what I mean by set number I recommend watching these other OWL Tutorials.
Now I will drag some files over from my computer. Select the files you want and place them in the drop area. You will see they are also numbered in the list.
Let me demonstrate a couple of the page’s controls. I realize I don’t need to include the flowers essay, because it already has a picture. So I can delete it from the list, highlight it and click the x. Also, it looks like I grabbed too many images. I don’t need this one called scent, so I’ll delete it and the flowers. Now we need to make sure the images are in the proper item.
The goal is to have the image file on the right and its parent item on the left have the same number. You can either drag them into order, or use these arrows. Click OK.
All my test items now have an image file. If I open one of them using the media prompts, you can see that it has the correct image file attached.
Before you close, save your work. Thank you for watching this tutorial.
