Welcome to Quarter 2. Seniors across the network celebrated Colorado Free Application Day this week, and our sophomores got to hear about it in seminar as well as during Morning Meeting on Friday. The College and Career Success Team is looking forward to our first campus visit next week to the Colorado School of Mines. Stay tuned for more updates!

Fall for Tufts is entirely virtual, and students, counselors, college advisors, and family members will have a multitude of events to choose from. Programming will include virtual student panels, mock classes taught by professors, specialized admissions sessions, and more!

AMC AMBASSADOR APPLICATION

Are you interested in a career in STEM? Do you want to make REAL connections with some of the most influential, and connected people of our community? Then you should also be interested in becoming an AMC Student Ambassador!

These ambassadors will serve as leaders for AST High School and be integral in our partnership with the Anschutz Medical Campus. They will help to facilitate and lead our whole student population in a number of excursion and exposure days which take place on the AMC grounds, as well as serve as a welcoming committee for community members who come and share their experiences and expertise with our students.

Water Quality Internship Opportunity

o   Are you passionate about water issues? If so, Shane Wright at Lincoln Hills Cares has a few environmental science internships available for you to apply to. Check out the different projects they have going on by visiting: https://sites.google.com/view/spray-projects/

o   Email Shane Wright a resume and cover letter or email interest. His email address is: shane@lhcares.org

o   The subject for this email should be: SPRAY Council

o   Once your resume is received and reviewed SPRAY will schedule an interview with you.

o   You are not expected to have tons of experience, but please emphasize why you are interested and how you would add to the project in a positive way.

o   Ages 12-24

o   There are approximately six openings.

o   Year round position with no term limits at this point.


K-12 STEAM Exposure Day at AMC!

o   When: Thursday, October 26 from 3:00pm-6:45 pm

o   Location: Boettcher Commons (Ed Quad)

o   Parking Code Provided for RSVPs

o   K-12 STEAM Exposure Day is a community event inviting local K-12 educators, students, and families to join us in a light dinner on campus while learning about on campus programs. At the booths there will be information sharing, networking and engaging activities. Following the booths exploration there will be a financial literacy workshop hosted by Lesa Briggs an Assistant Director Financial Literacy Outreach at CU Denver. Community and families will have an in-person opportunity to ask questions and engage with CU Anschutz Medical Campus community.

CU Pre-Health Scholars (CUPS) Pathway Program at Anschutz Medical Campus

o   Offered through the Office for Educational Outreach and Pathway Initiatives at AMC

o   CUPS is an academic enrichment and support program designed to motivate first-generation college-bound students to graduate from high school successfully, complete a college preparatory curriculum, pursue a college education, and matriculate into a professional health career program or graduate school program.

Colorado Rising Youth Summit → Friday, October 27th 

Colorado Rising is partnering with other organizations for the first Youth Unity Rising Summit on Oct. 27 at CSU Spur. This will be an inclusive and safe space with immersive learning experiences through student-led workshops, empowering resources, and a panel discussion of youth organizers. The event is meant to honor intentional connectivity and will bring teachings led and moderated by Black, Indigenous, People of Color, & LGBTQIA2S+ youth and allies.


Denver Scholarship Foundation VIP Courses

Join this event to hear from several professionals who will speak about their unique educational and career journeys. This is a great opportunity to listen, ask questions, and learn more about what actions you might need to take to work in this field.
