Reading | The Letter of the Week is Qq. Whenever you have a word with a ‘q’ there will be a ‘u’ after! For example, quit and quiz start with ‘qu’. Watch these two videos to help you practice identifying the sound ‘q’ makes. Have Fun Teaching Letter Q Song Learn the Letter Q Watch and follow along with this video to practice identifying, seperating, and manipulating the spoken sounds within words. This video was made by a curriculum we follow, called Heggerty Phonemic Awareness. Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Video Write the letters ‘qu’ to create a word in the Building Words with 'qu' worksheet. Practice reading the words. If you do not have access to a printer, you can have an adult write these words on a piece of paper for you to fill in. We have learned all of our sight words! See below for some different activities to review your Kindergarten Words. *Skywrite your words with big motions. Skywrite your words with tiny motions. *Look at your sight word for three seconds. Close your eyes and then spell the sight word by memory. *Make a cheer for each of your sight words.(For example:l-i-k-e, like,like,like). Read the decodable book The Quiz. Practice reading it each day to work on becoming more accurate and automatic in sounding out the words with ‘qu’ and ‘y’ and reading sentences. Assignment: Listen to Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. After watching, draw and write about your favorite part of the story. Don’t forget to use details in your drawings and tell us why it is your favorite part. You can use this paper or your own. Writing | Good writers also go back and edit their stories to make them better. Take a look at this quick video to learn about editing: Editing Video This week we will write an opinion about our favorite ice cream. If you don’t like ice cream, that is ok, just give your opinion on why you don’t like it. Here is a paper to write your sentences. Favorite Ice Cream Paper If you do not have a printer that is ok just use any type of paper to draw your picture and write your sentences. After you write, take a minute and look over your writing. Social Studies | This week we are working on a review of important Social Studies ideas we have learned throughout the school year. Watch I Like Me. If you can not make your last google meet then you can have someone take a picture of you holding the heart. We will surprise the paras with a song and share our hearts with them!!!
