This camp is designed and planned specifically for school-age children (5-8 years old). Participants will use age-appropriate reading and math skills through physical activity and meal preparation. Participants will work on a wide variety of physical skills and team building activities through fun and engaging games/activities (i.e. cooperation, teamwork, parachute, scooters, balance, mindfulness/Yoga, hand-eye coordination, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance). Each day participants will practice reading and math skills while preparing kid-friendly meals (Monday/Breakfast, Tuesday/Lunch, Wednesday/Snack, Thursday/Dinner, Friday/Dessert). Participants will learn and practice basic kitchen safety, meal preparation, health, and nutrition.

Learn the skills employers want, check out training programs & tour work sites.

In this two week session participants will learn the skills needed to impress employers and build knowledge to be successful in the world of work.

  • Classroom style activities include the Bring Your “A” Game to Work curriculum and hands on exposure to Naviance (naviance.com), Virtual Job Shadow, and a variety of assessments that measure interest and ability.
  • Community activities allow participants to explore post-secondary training programs and get a group tour of local work sites.

This club is designed to familiarize kids with yoga postures (Warrior, cobra, frog, dancer, tree) and will provide a ‘tool kit’ to empower students to manage stress. Mrs. Maroni will get kids moving, breathing, laughing, discussing health/nutrition and using their imaginations. Students will participate in moving to inspirational music, storytelling, journaling, dance, games, crafts and goal setting. Students will develop skills that enhance peace, mindfulness, strength, joy, flexibility and balance in mind and body. Many studies have shown that yoga is an effective way to improve cardiorespiratory fitness, physical functioning, reduce stress/anxiety in children. Each day of the club we will explore a different theme to make the experience extra special. Kids should bring a water bottle, healthy snack (nut free) and wear comfortable clothing. Yoga mats and journals will be provided, but students may also bring their own.

The curriculum for this club is through YogaEd which meets National health and P.E. standards and is designed for the public school setting.

Tween girls are some of the most vulnerable, yet impressionable, human beings. Yoga can provide a sanctuary from the pressures of school, friends, competitive sports, growing up, and everything else. This club is designed to familiarize and challenge tween girls with yoga postures (Warrior, cobra, dancer, tree) and will provide a ‘tool kit’ to empower young women with stress reduction techniques. Classes will incorporate breath awareness, games, inspiring music, teamwork, journaling, dance, crafts and goal setting. Students will develop skills that enhance positive self-image, peace, mindfulness, strength, joy, flexibility and balance in mind and body. Many studies have shown that yoga is an effective way to improve cardiorespiratory fitness, physical functioning, reduce stress/anxiety in children. Students should bring a water bottle, healthy snack (nut free) and wear comfortable clothing. Yoga mats and journals will be provided, but students may also bring their own.

Film Club is designed to give students entering fifth grade experience with the movie/commercial making process. Movie making connects the arts to the real world and provides a practical application of the arts in the various careers of the film industry. Students will work together on creating a storyboard, writing a script for a commercial, creating sets, special effects, props, costumes/makeup, operating a ‘video camera’ (iPad) and learning the basics of editing through iMovie. Students will explore a variety of roles in the pre, post and production process in directing, acting and editing. The movie is created through use of technology such as green screen technology, video cameras, and editing software using iMovie. The final result will be a finished commercial.

Exploration Camp

Exploration Camp is an interactive, outdoor science program. We will be learning about the different animals and plants in the area, and then going on walks to see if we can find and identify animal tracks and plants. Students will have a chance for hands-on discovery with an Outreach Trunk from the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. The trunk will have molds of animal prints and scat and furs from native Colorado animals. During the camp, there will be a field trip to the Poudre Learning Center where students will have a chance to apply their knowledge!

Coding Camp is an opportunity for students to experience and explore computer coding in a fun, imaginative way! The vision of this camp is to establish a platform for students to launch their own learning and exploration around computer science and coding. Campers will explore coding in many avenues, including online coding courses, unplugged activities, and collaboration with other coders.
