2025 High School Course Suggestions

 Pre-Med, Pre-Dental and Public Health

Visiting High School students may take classes online or commute to campus for in-person classes through our Commuter option. No residential housing is available. High school students can enroll in sessions that do not conflict with their return to high school in the fall.

Below are options for students taking their first undergraduate courses at UC Santa Cruz. All classes are 5 credits unless otherwise indicated. Session dates and deadlines are found on our academic calendar. Lower-division courses are numbered 1-99, and upper-division courses are numbered 100-199. We recommend starting with a lower-division class for your first undergraduate course. Still, you can take an upper-division class if you meet the prerequisites - just be prepared for more intensive reading and writing along with a heavier overall workload (see Workload and Course Expectations).

Pre-Med, Pre-Dental and Public Health programs are science-intensive. A strong foundation may allow you to take more advanced classes in college, and courses in different subject areas can prepare you with a broad academic background.

Session 1 - June 23 - July 25

Session 2 - July 28 - August 29

Mathematics

We offer many MATH classes - we are happy to help you select the right level.

If you have passed high school geometry, any UC Santa Cruz Summer Session MATH course will meet the (C) MATHematics A-G requirement.

Lower Division MATH Overview (course numbers less than 100)

While visiting high school students are not required to show proof of prerequisites for MATH courses, it is always in your best interest to have met them.
