FOR YOUR INFORMATION

We’d like to bring the following to your attention, for the benefit of yourself and others you may wish to include, especially during this epidemic.

You may know that

VITAMIN D

is known to be linked to helping our immune system function better.

15 minutes of sunshine each day between 11a.m. and 3p.m. is considered a peak way to absorb vitamin D, although any exposure in fresh air is always beneficial.

Supplements should NOT exceed more than 100 micrograms a day for: adults, the elderly, breast feeding women and children aged 11 to 17 years of age.

Vitamin D can be found in:  the flesh of fatty fish, such as: salmon, tuna, mackerel and in fish liver oil. Also in small amounts in egg yolk, beef liver and cheese.

Our doctors are happy to recommend vitamin D, it can only do us good and boost the immune system.

So, if you have a relative or friend in a Care Home or anyone who might benefit from a nice boiled egg for breakfast or a lovely piece of mackerel at tea time; pass this information on.
