Thank you for considering Engine as a corporate partner. As Engine nears its 10th year anniversary, we are seeking partners who believe in our mission of connecting and inspiring our community through art, design, and education.

Engine was founded to help revitalize a community that needed a cheerleader and advocate. After almost ten years of bringing people into the downtown for high quality events and exhibitions, Biddeford has begun to find its way. While Biddeford is benefitting from new investment and development, our mission to build community and provide opportunity is more critical than ever. While Biddeford is now the youngest city in Maine, it is also the most unaffordable in York County. Housing prices are rising dramatically. Which means, our at-risk youth need what Engine offers and the community needs to feel engaged.

Through our Creative Youth Industries and Compass@Engine, our boat building program, Engine is teaching youth both technical skills and soft skills that will benefit them as they enter the job market or head off to college. We’re giving students the opportunity to create and build. From woodworking to filmmaking to graphic design to 3D design and printing, Engine’s youth programs are empowering.

Engine’s two signature events, Fringe Fest and the York County Mini Maker Faire, will attract 3000+ people into the downtown. We’ve received our first National Endowment for the Arts grant to bring an artist-in-residence into the neighborhoods to work with residents to create a work of art to be presented at Fringe Fest. The 11th season of the Biddeford+Saco ArtWalk continues to bring people into the downtown to enjoy art and community. Our PechaKucha events are special evenings of storytelling and pack the room consistently. We’re facilitating two major murals through our Biddeford Public Art Committee as well that will help beautify and engage our community.

Engine’s support of the entrepreneurial ecosystem revolves around the Maine FabLab and the IGNITE incubator/accelerator project, which will support the region’s makers that want to scale up their product ideas.

Finally, the Marble Block redevelopment is underway. Engine is working to transition into the Marble Block storefront as soon as possible this year with a small footprint. Jim Godbout has come onboard as our general contractor and is recognized widely in this community for his generosity and his get-it-done attitude. With Jim’s help, we will raise the funds to occupy the storefront as soon as is feasible. And we hope to announce a larger development scenario in the near future.

Engine continues to deliver great value to the Biddeford community.

Please consider becoming a corporate partner in 2019. We’ve simplified our approach to focus on a year’s worth of excellent publicity and exposure, focusing on Education and/or Events + Exhibitions. If you have a specific interest, we would be happy to talk with you.
