Auto Loans Apply Now Application SPA
Front end Developer
The in house frontend framework at the bank was never meant for dynamic apps; it was built as more of a static site generator for all of our research experiences, utilizing Handlebars for our 'dynamic' content. The most it was intended to do was fetch daily rates, so naturally we decided to push it and try and build a single page application that interacts with backend REST web services (which didn't yet exist). My app manager and I created a proof of concept for this idea, presented it to the higher powers and got approved for a feature to rewrite the legacy Auto Loan application (which was a monolithic app developed on ZK framework). My core responsibilities during this time was development and maintenance of key modules and utilities that handled routing and interactions with our backend services.
After releasing this application, I went on to consult with other lines of business in getting their legacy applications converted to this new target state. This feature represented a big shift in the tech at the bank - It was the first single page application, and the first iteration of a pattern that would get propagated throughout other products.
