ACCES in relation to KESA’s 5 R’s
Relevance – applicable to the real world, empowering, engaging and socially significant
- Kansas Science and Engineering Fair (also falls under Rigor)
- Students in attendance for Regionals
- 5th grade: Christian Simmers and Jayden Simmers awarded first place
- 6th grade: Nathan Palmer, Trinity Sigmon and Rance Vessar awarded first place
- Students who medal at Regionals may attend State
- 5th grade: Christian Simmers and Jayden Simmers
- 6th grade: Nathan Palmer, Trinity Sigmon and Rance Vessar
- Hosted in Wichita on March 27th & 28th
- Second grade students have the opportunity to learn water safety skills
- Total of 6 sessions beginning Tuesday, March 24th
- SAW sessions to be held at the YMCA in Atchison
Responsive Culture – readily involving stakeholders to become involved in the learning process and learning community
- Read Across America (also falls under Relationships)
- Monday, March 2nd thru Wednesday, March 4th
- National Honor Society students traveled from class to class sharing favorite books with the students
Relationships – establishing connections is critical and results in high performing learning environments
Rigor – opportunity to demonstrate growth & learning
- 3rd thru 6th
- Testing begins Tuesday, March 24th and runs through Wednesday, April 8th
- All teachers, class aides and paras have been trained on testing protocols
- Accelerated Reader update
- Third quarter competition winners
- Students in the following homerooms have read the most words for third quarter: Stutesman, R. Eckert, Kasson, Hodgson, Chalfant and Montgomery
- Nacho party celebration to be held Friday, March 20th
- Parent/Teacher Conferences (also falls under Responsive Culture & Relationships)
- 79% attendance PreK-6th grades
- Spring conferences declined 16% in physical attendance compared to Fall conferences
- Those unable to attend will be contacted by phone or email
