Story 1

SMILEY AND THE ONLINE SCHOOL

Aims:

The students will express their emotions regarding the Covid pandemic.

The students will discover what they can do in isolation, pandemic times, as well as how to be mindful and active.

The students will explain how they can safely navigate the Internet.

The students will narrate the story of the brave captain navigating the Internet Sea.

The students will become optimistic about what they will do next in the online school.

Materials:

List of materials, tools: pictures with a smiley mascot, Lego, games, a mask, a tablet, a 3D story book regarding Internet Safety made by students with the teacher, a pen, scissors, craft, story cubes, smiley stamps, pictures.

Resources and technology

The software used is Power director 18 (it has a license) and the free music has been used from Dancing on the Sofa- by Lobo Loco  https://www.freemusicarchive.org/search?quicksearch=lobo+loco+dancing

Duration:

The story/video is going to be about 3-4 minutes longs.

The preparation, recording and editing of your video is going to be about 8 hours.  

Procedure:

The steps needed from the start (preparation) to the final outcome (the full video) will be: preparing the 3D story book regarding the Internet Safety, finding materials for smiley frames, writing the storyline/ script, arranging each frame with Smiley and taking photos of it, choosing the music, assembling the video, posting the video on YouTube.

Learning outcomes & skills addressed (check out 21st Century Skills) :

The students will accomplish by doing this activity the following learning outcomes: to express their emotions, to discover how to be mindful and active, to explain how to safely navigate the Internet, to narrate the story of a brave captain. The students also will develop the skills involved in preparing the 3D storybook, the materials for the frames. The students will improve their ICT skills.

The students will develop the language skills and critical thinking, the skills of making a book and a video clip.

Evaluation/ Learn Check:

How you are going to evaluate the set learning outcomes and skills?

The evaluation refers to the preparation of the 3D book, of the frames, the narration of the story, and also the explanation of the rules of safely navigating the Internet. It is also important the number of students involved in the project, the dissemination of the project online in front of the students, their parents and other teachers.

Tips, observations, future work  

I reflected about how to make a video with less text on the slides and also to let more time for the slides with text.
