Meatball sliders recipe

1 large egg

2 tbsp ketchup

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

¼ cup panko bread crumbs

2 large cloves garlic, finely chopped

1 ¼ lbs of ground beef

1 tbsp olive oil

1 onion, finely chopped

1 14oz can crushed tomatoes in puree

2 tbsp brown sugar

12 small rolls

salt and pepper to taste

Heat the broiler. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, ketchup, 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, 1 tbsp water, and salt/pepper to taste. Stir in the panko bread crumbs. Let mixture sit for 2 minutes and then toss with half the garlic.

Add the ground beef to the mixture and gently mix to combine. Shape the meat mixture into 10-12 meatballs and place on the baking sheet.

Broil for approximately 8 minutes.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, covered—stirring occasionally, for 6 minutes. Uncover and continue cooking until the onions are tender (about 3 minutes more). Stir in remaining garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Add the crushed tomatoes and brown sugar to the skillet and simmer for approximately 3 minutes. Stir in remaining Worcestershire sauce. Toss the cooked meatballs in the sauce.

Serve up in rolls.

Optional:  Garnish with parmesan cheese.
