OB ANESTHESIA TECHNICIAN DUTIES
- Daily anesthesia machine checkout
- Weekly iBUS restart
- Daily OB-OR equipment confirmation: (Pressure bags, Ambu-Bags, Glidescope, etc.)
- Daily stocking of anesthesia carts
- Remove expired supplies from anesthesia carts
- Clean all work surfaces daily in OR
- Clean anesthesia machine and carts as needed (Dust, marks and stains)
- Stocking and ordering in supply room
- Remove expired stock from supply room
- Wipe down work counters daily
- Wipe epidural carts weekly
- Maintain “Drug label rolls”
- Exchange sharps box when 75% full
- Coordinate with housekeeping for trash removal, recycle bin and general cleaning
- Place paper towels in dispenser by sink as needed
- Restock and cycle desflurane / sevoflurane (1each) in supply room cabinets
- Cycle low use items (close to expiration) with busier areas (Upper body bair huggers, suction tubing, a-line, central line etc)
- In OB ANESTHESIA we do very few general anesthetics, BUT WHEN WE DO ONE, IT USUALLY IS EXTREMELY EMERGENT. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ERROR IN SOMETHING NOT BEING THERE, OR NOT WORKING. SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT MUST BE STOCKED AND ALWAYS FULLY FUNCTIONAL
- As fewer General Anesthetics are performed, lower PAR Numbers are acceptable on some items: (Inhaled agents, ETT’s, LMA’s etc.)
