STUDENT-CENTERED COACHING

1 district credit for full cycle (4-6 weeks)

0.5 district credits for mini cycle (1-3 weeks)

The core practices for Student-Centered Coaching are built on a foundation of formative assessment and backward design. They serve as the drivers for ensuring that coaching impacts teaching and student learning. Coaching is coordinated at each school level.

INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT

1 re-licensure point/clock hour

One-on-one or small group learning sessions with an instructional coach.

  • Design blended learning: Work to refresh or build a Canvas course.
  • Co-Planning: Through conversation, collaboratively plan a lesson or unit.
  • Differentiation support: Design learning opportunities or assessments that allow student voice and choice.
  • Targeted technology: Brainstorm and support the right tool to meet students’ needs.
  • Micro-credential support: Guide you to targeted micro-credentials and provide support as you earn those credentials.

CLASSROOM CONNECTIONS

Three classroom connection days are built into each teacher’s yearly contract. These days may be spent observing teachers in our district or at other sites based on need. Talk to your principal to arrange these days.

LEARNING WALKS

1 re-licensure point/clock hour

Typically held in the morning, these walks are meant to engage educators in observation and discussion about classroom practice. Talk to your instructional coach to sign up.

NEW TEACHER ACADEMY

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES

Professional learning communities (PLCs) work together to analyze data, discuss solutions, reflect on practice, and have shared ownership of student achievement for all students taught by the educators on the team.

  • What do we want all students to know and be able to do?
  • How will we know if they learn it?
  • How will we respond when some students do not learn?
  • How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient?

Book Clubs

SELF-PACED, COLLABORATIVE; 2 district credits/book.

Great for faculty book studies or PLC teams. Each enrollment includes a copy of the text and guided discussion questions. BYOB option: Not seeing a book that sparks? COMPUTER SCIENCE IN YOUR CLASSROOM

The state Computer Science Standards are written to include core computer science skills of critical thinking, problem-solving, computational thinking, and mathematical reasoning in all subjects. In this course, educators will gain an awareness of the Utah CS standards and how they can be implemented in any curriculum using unplugged activities, robotics, and computer tools.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

Learn the basics of teaching students how to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in the digital world. Take this one-hour tutorial to get an introduction to digital citizenship. At the end of the tutorial, you will receive a certificate of completion.

GOOGLE CERTIFICATION

If you are an educator who knows how to use Google tools in the classroom, this certification allows you to demonstrate your proficiency. If you want to become better, Google provides training online. Juab School District will pay for your exam upon successful completion. Email your receipt to Krystle Bassett to receive reimbursement and district credit.

GROWING WITH CANVAS

This course introduces educators to Canvas basics with added context for Juab School District instructional practices.

The IRIS Center is a national center dedicated to improving education outcomes for all children, especially those with disabilities from birth through age twenty-one, through effective evidence-based practices and interventions.

The Utah State Board of Education is pleased to announce the Beginning Teacher Professional Learning Network – an opportunity for beginning teachers to collaborate with and learn from their peers throughout the state. These monthly convenings are designed to provide support in a variety of topics of interest to beginning teachers while simultaneously offering the opportunity to network with grade-level and subject-matter teachers from other areas of the state.

504 & IDEA

All educators must understand the provisions of two major laws—the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973—and what similarities and differences exist. This webinar focuses on the differences and similarities between these two laws in policy and practice.

SUICIDE AWARENESS & PREVENTION

Complete the USBE Suicide Prevention Training; you can also create an account at Jason Foundation for a two-hour training to help fulfill the state licensure requirement. Required every three years for all teachers.

A Hub is a custom resource center on UEN eMedia where groups can create and share collections associated with a project or organization. Projects, institutions, states, and initiatives make use of Hubs to bring groups of educators together to create, organize, and share collections that meet their common goals.
