Current DFS Version:  v20.0

Current Weeds Version: 2.0

NOTE:  Many times manuals are updated just before a release comes out, so the version you see above may not be available yet.

NOTE:  This Drop ‘N Go manual applies to many different systems such as Digital Farm System (DFS), Weeds, Chimera, etc. therefore some items mentioned in this manual may not apply to certain systems.

UPDATE

Step 1 - Rez the Drop ‘N Go Update Crystal.

Step 2 -  Click the Drop ‘N Go Update Crystal and it will search your sim for Drop ‘N Go boxes and update each one.  When the crystal is finished, it will return to you and you can delete it.

If there’s no update crystal in your redelivery or if you have a really old DNG version, simply delete your old Drop ‘N Go and rez out a new one.

INTRODUCTION

The VM Designs Drop ‘N Go is a very handy tool that can assist you with your farming needs.  Here are just a few of the features.

Yep, the Drop ‘N Go can really help you with stocking your items and also selling them.  Before we get started, here are a few important notes:

Note:  There are times when the Drop ‘N Go needs to scan for all your Drop ‘N Go enabled sorters, such as each time you first access it.  Because many factors can delay communication on a sim, there’s a built-in 5 second delay during this process.  Therefore, expect a tiny delay each time you start a new session with the Drop ‘N Go.

Note:  Ensure you don’t have the same item crate in multiple Drop ‘N Go enabled sorters.  For example, don’t have Milk in both your ingredient sorter and another sorter and both of those sorters are enabled for Drop ‘N Go.  The Drop ‘N Go will send the items to the first sorter that responds, which may not be your intended location.

INITIAL SETUP

NOTE: Do not edit and “lock” the Drop ‘N Go (or other VMD items).  Doing so prevents you from adding or removing items which defeats the purpose.

Unpack the box like normal and you’ll get a folder in your inventory.  Then follow these setup steps.

Step 1 - Rez the Drop ‘N Go crate wherever you need it (or several crates if you have multiple locations).

Step 2 - Click your Modular Sorter to bring up the main menu and go to Add-Ons and then click Drop ‘N Go. You should see an enabled message in local chat and the text on the “Click Here To Sort” prim on the Modular Sorter should turn green. This lets you know that sorter is now Drop ‘N Go enabled. Do this for each sorter that needs Drop ‘N Go access.

NOTE:  If you want your Drop ‘N Go to sort to your Reduced Uses sorter, you need to click DNG RU instead in the Add-Ons Menu. This will make the top center button (Click here to sort) yellowish. This should be done on ONE Sorter only.

Note:  Remember, don’t have the same item crate in more than one Drop ‘N Go enabled sorter.  Also remember Drop ‘N Go works sim wide, so place as many Drop ‘N Go boxes as you need to make your farming easier!

USING DROP ‘N GO

Using the Drop ‘N Go crate is fairly simple and if you’re familiar with many of the other VM Designs’ products, it will be a breeze.

Most of the time you’ll simply CTRL+Drag your items to the Drop ‘N Go crate and then click the Sort button on the Drop ‘N Go menu.  This is the same process you’d use for each of your sorters except now you don’t have to go to each sorter individually.

NOTE:  Because some people like to pick up their Drop ‘N Go (DNG) for various reasons, the object name of the Drop ‘N Go will have the word Filled in brackets [Filled] if the DNG has items in it.  This allows you to quickly see which Drop ‘N Gos in your inventory have items.  Also, when you put No Copy items inside a Drop ‘N Go, that Drop ‘N Go becomes No Copy.

After you click Sort on the menu, the Drop ‘N Go will send the items to the appropriate crates in the appropriate sorters.  If Drop ‘N Go doesn’t find a crate for an item, it will notify you in local chat and you’ll see hover text telling you that you have manual items to sort.  This process is covered below when we talk about the Manual button.

The Drop ‘N Go will also send boxed up items and items in crates such as Stash Boxes to your sorters.

The other functions of the Drop ‘N Go are covered below when talking about each of the buttons.

DROP ‘N GO BUTTONS

*Main Menu Items*

Sort = Just like the name says, this tells the Drop ‘N Go to sort all the items you’ve placed in it, meaning it will send those items to the appropriate crate in the appropriate sorter.

RU Sort = Sends the item(s) in the Drop ‘N Go to your Reduced Uses sorter.  To use this option, you must have a sorter setup for reduced uses (Sorter menu, Access > DNG RU).  Then ensure you only have items with reduced uses in your Drop ‘N Go and click the RU button.  Basically, you need to sort regular “full use” items separate from “reduced use” items if you wish to use this option.

UUID = Puts the UUID of the Drop ‘N Go into local chat so you can copy and paste it if needed, such as to send “Box up” items to your Drop ‘N Go.

Manual = Allows you to manually sort items that didn’t automatically sort.  See the Manual Menu Items below for more information.

Package = The package option was removed in Version 17.0.  If you need to package up different types of items into a single crate or prim, follow these steps:

  1. Rez the prim you wish to put the items in.  We recommend using the VMD Auction Crate, which you can get for free at the main VMD store.
  2. Click on the prim you just rezed (or the Auction Crate) and get the UUID (if your prim doesn’t have a menu option that gives the UUID then Right-Click it and Edit it and on the Edit window click Copy Keys).
  3. Now that you have the UUID click on each crate in your Sorter that has the items you wish to package up and select Transfer, enter the quantity you wish to transfer in the first popup and then paste the UUID in the next popup and your items will be transferred.

Another option is to use WebView to transfer the items to a prim or Auction Crate.

Done = Closes the menu.  It’s always better to use the Done button instead of licking Ignore.

Dump = Returns any unsorted items back to you.

Process = Chimera ONLY.  As you’re fishing you can put your fish into the Drop ‘N Go and when finished, take your Drop ‘N Go to your processing table (rez it near the table), click the Drop ‘N Go, and select Process.  The Drop ‘N Go will rez your fish, 10 at a time, at your Processing Table for you to process.  You can put the items you get from processing back into the Drop ‘N Go (DNG).  When you’re finished processing you can use the Sort option on your DNG like normal to send the items back to your sorters.

Admin = Takes you to the Admin (administration) menu which works like your sorter’s admin menu:

NOTE:  The Sorter will always separate different versions.  For example, if you have a Dirt Field version 1.5 and a Dirt Field version 2.0, they will sort into separate crates regardless of breakout being on or off.

NOTE:  Although this is the Drop ‘N Go manual, the Breakout function affects your Sorter behavior as well as your Recipe HUB and texture choices so all are mentioned here.  Please pay close attention to these tips using Beer Keg as an example:

Search = Will perform a search of all your Drop ‘N Go enabled sorters for an item.  For example, can’t remember if those Sap Buckets are in your ingredient sorter or your crafting sorter?  Click the Search button and type in part of the name (in this case, Sap is all you’d need) and the crate(s) on the sorter will “beam” a particle stream to you showing you the item’s location.

*Manual Menu Items*

Manual mode is used when the Drop ‘N Go can’t find a crate for an item you’ve asked it to sort.  Here are your options under this menu item.

Manual Sort = This causes the Drop ‘N Go to search your sim for all your Drop ‘N Go enabled sorters and it will present you a list.  Select the number corresponding to the sorter you wish to send the unsorted item(s) too.  NOTE:  You’ll get a popup sorter list for each unique item requiring a manual sort.  After you’ve selected all the appropriate sorters, the Drop ‘N Go will then send the item(s) to that sorter.  If the sorter has Auto Sort turned on, the sorter will automatically create a crate for the new item and then arrange and sort.  If Auto Sort is not turned on in your sorter, you’ll need to access the sorter’s Build menu and Crate Maker option.

Sort List = Displays a list of all your Drop ‘N Go enabled sorters on your sim.  This is handy if you can’t recall all the ones you’ve enabled Drop ‘N Go for.

Done = Closes the menu.

Return = Returns any unsorted item(s) to you.

Resort = Returns any manual sort items back to the main prim, allowing you to do a new sort.

Slow Sort / Quick Sort = If you have many sorters and the Drop ‘N Go is having a hard time listing them all, click “Slow Sort.”  Finding the sorters will take a bit more time, but it should find them all even with sim lag and other SL issues.  If you only have a few sorters, then “Standard Sort” (Quick) should be ok.
