12th and 13th of October

The HSE are running free Covid-19 vaccine clinics on campus 9am-5pm Tues-Thurs in the Main Concourse building. Open to ALL students & staff who are either unvaccinated or awaiting their 2nd dose.

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children 2021

October 4th-17th

Now in its 25th year, Baboró is Ireland’s flagship international arts festival devoted exclusively to children and families. This annual week-long festival of world-class creative arts features some of the best Irish and International artists and hosts creative engagement workshops for school children and families. The festival includes outreach programmes for children and families living in County Galway, Professional Development industry events.

Japanese Film Festival 2021

October 14th-17th

Pálás’ 2021 Japanese Film Festival will feature a diverse and packed programme of films, which includes work of the most acclaimed filmmakers from contemporary Japanese cinema, and covers a variety of themes, genres and topics.

Galway Comedy Festival

October 19-25

Ireland’s biggest festival of comedy comes roaring back to Galway this October Bank Holiday, and with the last of the COVID restrictions set to disappear, organisers are planning a triumphant return for this week-long festival of fun. Get ready for the party of the century as Galway once again lights up with laughter: #GCF21 Tues 19th - Mon 25th Oct, 2021. Spooky Wooky at Burren Nature

22-31 October

Enjoy getting out and about this Halloween at Burren Nature Sanctuary. Dare to brave the haunted barn with a scary mix of spooky characters and ghost story-telling. Let the kids be transformed into their favourite spooky characters by having their faces painted. Autumn is perfect for a stroll through this natural landscape of the Burren. Tickets to the Spooky Wooky also give you a day pass to the Sanctuary.

Halloween Treat at Turoe Pet Farm

 23-31 October

Hallowe’en fun for kids begins at Turoe Pet Farm’s with their indoor soft play jungles, all decorated and ready for a spooky seasonal experience.. Children can take to the slides, ball pits and rope ladders of “Jungle City”, or leap and bounce on the massive “Inflatable City”. Face painting and balloon modelling along with a fancy dress parade at 4pm followed by Disco with DJ Corky and Special Mascots. An afternoon of great fun and entertainment is promised along with hot food and refreshments.

Winter Skin Tips Event with Freebies!

Wednesday 13th of October

La Roche Posay and CeraVe Dermatology invite you to SkinChat, a virtual Dermatology series on good skin health. This event will be hosted by Dr Laura Nicholson online 12.30pm-1.30pm Weds 13th Oct (Treat Yo Self Day!). Dr Nicholson will explore Winter Skin – Tips & Traps; Acne, Rosacea, Psoriasis, Dry Skin. Tips to manage, what to look out for and when to go see your GP. Dr Nicholson will welcome the opportunity to submit skin queries. There will also be a quiz with skincare freebies to give away. Ceol an tSamhraidh: The Stunning

16th October

Irish legends The Stunning are coming back west to celebrate Ceol an t’Samhraidh. The hitmakers only play a select number of shows each year, so this is not to be missed! During the early nineties, the biggest Irish band in the world was U2 but in Ireland it was The Stunning. In the seven years they were initially together, they toured relentlessly building up a following that would make them one of the most successful Irish bands ever.

Galway Kilo Sale Pop Up

They're bringing 5 tonnes of garms for you to shop by weight for only €30 per Kilo in the harbour hotel. Early Bird Tickets are €2 for the 10am and 11am time slots at this event. Jigsaw 5 a day for mental health

Tuesday November 2nd 2021

This 1 hour workshop aims to provide young adults, aged 17 - 25 in third level educational settings, with the strategies necessary to build and take care of their own mental health. It takes place on Tuesday November 2nd, 5:00pm – 6:00pm.

The workshops will be delivered over Zoom. A link and instructions will be sent to you once you register. Participants will:

- Gain an understanding of mental health

- Become aware of mental health as a resource for living

- Learn a range of practical strategies that they can implement to improve and manage their own mental health on a day to day basis

- Learn how and where to get help

- Become aware of the supports available in their local area

Galway Wind Park Scholarship Fund

Applications are now open for the 2021 Galway Wind Park Scholarship Fund which offers students living within 15km of the Wind Park an opportunity to apply for 50% funding support towards third level education fees up to a maximum of 3 years. Scholarships are available to undergraduate and postgraduate (full & part-time) students currently studying or intending to study at NUI Galway. Applications Close Fri 29th Oct. More info HERE.
