CTAC’s 2020 fall exhibits are open
Crooked Tree Arts Center’s two fall exhibitions, “Call and Response” and “The Collective Impulse” are now open for viewing.
Showcasing the work of artists from Michigan and around the country, “Call and Response” explores the notion of art having the power to communicate, inspire, and contribute to meaningful dialogue and the exchange of ideas. The exhibit acknowledges and recognizes the many ways works of art can spark conversation, action, and aid in the processing of ideas, feelings, experiences, and events. Original works in a multitude of media are on display for in-person viewing, as well as online in a virtual exhibit at crookedtree.org.
The three-woman show, “The Collective Impulse” displays new work by Ruth Bardenstein, Jean Buescher Bartlett, and Susan Moran, friends who live and work in lower Michigan. Artists, including Bardenstein, Bartlett, and Moran, continuously collect information and materials from their daily lives and experiences, which they sort through, creating connections and art. These day-to-day mental and physical aspects of collecting and creating are all part of the artist’s studio practices, and the exhibit provides insight into their processes.
Virtual docent tours will take place on Friday afternoons, beginning October 16. Tours include a lesson tied to the current exhibit, “Call and Response,” and a hands-on activity. Interested in joining? Email our Visual Arts Director at lizerlewine@crookedtree.org.
Both fall exhibitions are on display through Friday, December 18, during the following business hours: Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
