  1. Discuss your educational history (undergraduate and graduate, if applicable) and the ways it has prepared you for rigorous graduate study in social work. What are your academic strengths? How will you use these to be successful in this program? What areas can you identify for further improvement and how will you address them?
  2. Social workers serve vulnerable populations who face historical and structural oppression and often live in poverty. Describe any experiences you have had serving members of such populations or addressing issues pertaining to such populations. Discuss what you learned about yourself, others, and society from those experiences.
  3. Professional relationships rely on the social worker's ability to understand diverse experiences and to empathetically connect to others. Describe an interpersonal interaction you've had in an academic, volunteer, or work setting with someone who is different from you in terms of gender, religion, race or ethnicity, nationality, age, health or mental health status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or economic status. Discuss the ways in which your actions reflect your capacity to work empathically and effectively.
  4. The social work graduate program is expensive, challenging, and time-consuming. It demands a necessary reprioritization of your time and financial resources to complete. How do you plan to pay for your education and what changes do you anticipate making in your work and personal schedule to accommodate the full-time or part-time program? Be specific.
