Professional Activity (PA) Days | 2024-2025 School Year
November 15, 2024 Professional Activity Day Parent/Guardian-Teacher Meetings Regular and on-going communication is key to supporting your child’s growth. Discussions will include the student’s progress, what is being taught in class and how parent(s)/guardian(s) can support their child’s learning and ways to differentiate instructional practices. A communication will be sent home to parents/guardians with details of how to arrange a meeting. These meetings will be planned twice a year, November and February, between the teacher and parent/guardian and may include the child. Parents will be informed of the time of their meeting, once it is scheduled. |

10:00 - 10:45 | -All staff will view a video related to school safety on the Occupational Health & Safety Reporting System and violent incident reporting. -The presenter in the video is the Coordinator of the TCDSB Occupational Health and Safety Department. -There will be opportunities during the video training session for discussion among staff, led by the Principal. |
10:45 - 11:30 | -Principal will lead staff in a review of student data (including but not limited to EQAO) in literacy and mathematics in the context of the School Improvement & Equity Plan. -Staff will discuss observations, trends, strengths, areas of need to determine next steps in instruction. |
11:30 - 12:30 | Lunch |
12:30 - 1:05 | Based on the 10:45 a.m. session, staff will work in teams to outline instructional strategies to be used with students to address areas for growth during the upcoming learning cycle. Staff teams will plan for monitoring student achievement related to the School Improvement & Equity goals (numeracy, literacy, etc.) |

1:20 - 2:12 | -All staff will view a video related to the academic and health impacts on students of cellphones and vaping, with an emphasis on enforcement requirements, creating mentally healthy spaces, and effective classroom management strategies. -The presenters in the video are staff from the TCDSB Safe Schools, Mental Health, and Health & Physical Education teams. -There will be opportunities during the video training session for discussion among staff, led by the Principal. |

8:45 - 9:15 | Curriculum - Family Life The Principal will lead staff through information on the new 2023 Family Life Curriculum Document (Grades 1-8), the new Blessed & Beloved students and teacher resource for Grade 1, and lessons for Grades 2-8. |
9:15 - 10:45 | Literacy K- 2 Teachers, DECEs and ALL Special Education Teachers Staff will receive training for the implementation of the EasyCBM Reading Screener. Training will be online and led by staff from EasyCBM trainers. Gr 3-8 Teachers Staff will be presented with various digital literacy tools to engage and enhance student success in both French and English Literacy. They will be interacting with a choice board of activities related to various applications that are available to support literacy instruction including SRSD Writing, SORA, Edwin, Gale, Smash and Idéllo. |
