Short for magazine, zines are handmade, “do it yourself” publications: handwritten, collaged, photocopied, stapled, and glued. Zines voice an opinion on any topic, from hip hop and punk rock to feminism and anti-racism. Look and learn about zines and alternative publications. Discover LaGuardia’s activist past through our institutional archives. Led by Instruction Librarian Ian McDermott, students will create their own zine using materials from the Institutional Archives and popular sources. This experiential learning event is planned in conjunction with a series of poetry workshops on digital media literacy being held during the Spring 2018 semester.

RSVP to Ian McDermott by Friday, April 27, if you plan to bring your class, imcdermott@lagcc.cuny.edu.
