1. Team Rules and Requirements

1.1. Participation in the Premier Series.

The Premier Series is a team-based competition. Teams are comprised of five (5) players at a minimum, each of whom must be an Eligible Participant. None of the Team Members may be associated with more than one Team in the Premier Series.

Teams must elect one Team Captain from within the roster of five (5) Eligible Participants who make up the Team. The role of the Team Captain is to be the primary point of contact for the Team.

One person cannot be a Team Captain in two or more Teams simultaneously.

1.2. Active Roster.

The five Eligible Participants who are designated as starters to play for the Team in the Premier Series will be considered the “Active Roster” for the Team. Subs are never considered part of the “Active Roster.”

Only the five (5) players who are on the Active Roster at the conclusion of the Team’s final game of each Cup will be eligible to receive points prizing from HeroesHype. Subs never accrue points and do not have ownership of any points.

All members of the Active Roster, as well as the sub, will receive an equal portion of any prize money earned during each Cup. The sub’s earnings will be determined by the number of games in which the sub played for that Cup, divided against the total number of games the team played in that Cup. The sub’s earnings will then be subtracted from the member of the Active Roster for which they subbed.

1.3. Roster Locks and Changes.

Teams may only consist of five (5) players and one (1) optional substitute.

Teams must submit their roster one (1) hour in advance of their first match each weekend to be eligible for play per individual Premier Series Cup.

Registration closes one (1) hour prior to the first match of each Premier Series Cup. All rosters submitted before this time are considered final once registration closes and no new rosters will be accepted, nor any roster changes of any kind allowed.

1.4. Team Name and Player BattleTags.

Team names must be deemed appropriate by HeroesHype. HeroesHype reserves the right to ask Teams to change their name or to directly change Team names that are seen as unfit for the Tournament.

The account that is attached to your Toornament account is the one you MUST play with in the tournament.

1.5. Registration on Toornament

Team captains are required to create a team and provide mandatory information for the other team members  in order to register themselves for the Tournaments.

Players must create a Toornament account attached to a account.

Team captains will create a team using the Toornament link and submit the player information, including ID, Discord Tag (required for captain only), Email, and Country to register themselves for the qualifiers.

All players must have their correct BattleTags entered as their Premier Series BattleTag. accounts must be owned by the player wishing to use the accounts mentioned to compete.

After registering teams may swap their members as many times as needed until the roster is locked 1 hour before the tournament begins.

All Teams are required to check-in on Toornament, starting 2 hours before the tournament start and ending 1 hour sharp before the tournament start. Any team failing to check in will not be included in the tournament.

Participants in the NA Premier Series must only be from the following countries: United States, Canada.

Participants in the EU Premier Series must only be from the following countries: Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

1.6. Communication.

All team captains are required to join the Discord channel: where you can contact admins and players alike regarding upcoming and in progress tournaments.

Discord can be used both in the browser and as a desktop app -

All announcements will be communicated by admins in the HeroesHype Discord server.  Announcements can include hero bans, glitches/bugs, player/team rulings, etc.

To initiate a match the captain can click on each individual matchup in the bracket on Toornament. This will take you to the matchup lobby where you will have direct contact with the opposing team’s captain and the HeroesHype admin in regards to drafting and hosting details.

The matchup lobby pages are generated after the check-in period has ended and can be found by clicking on pairings in the Toornament bracket.

If a match is due to begin and the opponent captain does not respond to Discord, Toornament, or in-game communication within 15 minutes the match will be forfeit. A tournament admin will be required to confirm any forfeited match.

2. Structure of the Premier Series

2.1. Roster Restrictions.

Every team that participates in the Premier Series is subject to the following Roster Restrictions:

A team that disbands (three or more original members leave the team) will be automatically disqualified from the Premier Series. Teams can replace two players from their Active Roster under the following restrictions:

2.2. Premier Series Format

The Premier Series will be played in two parts, a series of open cups and a playoff bracket.

Premier Series cup play will consist of 6 separate cups that are all single elimination with Best of 3 rounds. A 3rd / 4th match will be required for each cup.

Playoff bracket play will consist of a double elimination bracket with 8 teams played over three days in semi-staggered format.

Day 1 = Upper bracket round 1 as Best of 3, Lower bracket round 1 as Best of 3, Upper bracket round 2 as Best of 3

Day 2 = Lower bracket round 2 as Best of 3,  Lower bracket round 3 as Best of 3, Upper bracket round 3 as Best of 5

Day 3 =, Lower bracket round 4 as Best of 5, Grand Final as a weighted Best of 7

2.3. Tournament Rules; Match Details.

In each Tournament match, two teams will compete against each other by playing Heroes of the Storm on the server operated by Blizzard. Matches will be played in the “Custom” game mode and “Tournament Draft” lobby mode.

Competitors are required to maintain the ability to compete in Premier Series cups by having their Live client client updated on the relevant days of competition


HeroesHype, at its sole discretion, will select a pool of ten Battlegrounds for the Tournament prior to the commencement of the Premier Series. The Battlegrounds pool can be changed at HeroesHype’s sole discretion.  The Battleground pool consists of eleven maps which are as follows:

For each match, each team captain must join the matchup lobby via the bracket on the Toornament website.  An admin will also be present.

Each match will begin with an initial Battleground selection process. There will be a coin flip to determine which team gets their choice of first Hero pick or map pick. The admin will perform the coin flip in the HeroesHype Discord server and the winner will be notified in the match lobby.  The team with map pick will ban one map, then the team with first pick will ban one map, then  the process will repeat a second time for both teams, and then the map pick team will select a map.

Players will be able to select from any heroes that are available to them on their accounts and that have been commercially released in the region of play for at least two weeks before the match, except that HeroesHype, in its sole discretion, may restrict certain heroes from the Premier Series Events at any point during the Premier Series. Eligible Participants must have access to at least fourteen Heroes in order to participate in the Premier Series.

The team with the higher seed in the bracket will host the Game Lobby. The server must be set to Central unless both team captains mutually agree on West (NA only).

Each game within a match will begin with a drafting process to determine which heroes each team will play. Each team will have 60 seconds per selection phase in which to ban and pick heroes. If a team runs out of time, its pick will be randomly selected or it’s ban will be missed. The team that began the battleground selection process (Team A) will go second during the first game’s hero selection process, in the following sequence:

In the following games of a match, the losing team of the previous game will have the choice for Battlegrounds selection or first pick first ban in the hero draft. Battlegrounds may not be repeated during a match.

HeroesHype, in their sole discretion, may require that a game or match be paused, suspended, replayed, or forfeited by a team in the event that one or more players lose their connections or the game is otherwise affected by abnormal technical or nontechnical issues, or based upon violations of the Specific Rules or otherwise unfair or unsportsmanlike conduct.


Teams may pause a total of 3 times per game. The amount of total pause time must not exceed 10 cumulative minutes per game per team.

Referees reserve the right to unpause a game at any time and to extend pause time at any time.

Pauses may be used once the game has loaded into the battleground. If a player disconnects or crashes during the loading screen, the game should be paused immediately upon load in. If a player disconnects or crashes during draft, the draft will be remade from the point of the last pick or ban that was locked in, with the same picks/bans from the previous draft being locked in again up until the point of disconnect.

Any team abusing pause will be punished and automatically be ineligible to any prize in the ongoing match. The abuse of pause will also result in a default loss in the ongoing match.

HeroesHype at its sole discretion may apply additional sanction.

Bugs & Exploits

Any use of a known bug or exploit will result in the team using the bug or exploit being ineligible to any prize for the ongoing match. Any use of bug or exploit will result in a default loss. HeroesHype as its sole discretion may apply additional sanctions.

Known bugs and exploits are defined as anything made known previous to the game in question by the administrators or any report that is public on the official bug report forums, the Heroes of the Storm Subreddit (/r/heroesofthestorm) or any form of social media.

Game Forfeitures

If fewer than five Eligible Participants on a team’s roster are present fifteen minutes after the scheduled match time, that team forfeits the match.

HeroesHype, in its sole discretion, may require that a game or match be paused, suspended, replayed, or forfeited by a team in the event that one or more players lose their connections or the game is otherwise affected by abnormal technical or nontechnical issues, or based upon violations of the Official Rules or otherwise unfair or unsportsmanlike conduct.


All teams are required to retain their replays for at least 14 days after any match has finished.

The winning team in every Premier Series match is automatically required to upload all replays with the provided replay submission form.

Replays are required so that match results and the match itself can be reviewed by HeroesHype administration in the event that a dispute is issued by either team that participated in the match.

Administrators will communicate directly with all persons who have their replays requested in order to obtain the replays in a method that is feasible for all parties.


Players must compete to the best of their ability at all times. Any form of cheating by any Team Member will not be tolerated. All Team Members are prohibited from influencing or manipulating a League game or match so that the outcome is determined by anything other than its merits.

Illegal and Unethical Conduct

Team Members are required to observe all laws applicable to their participation in the Premier Series.

A Team Member may not, during the Premier Series, commit any act or become involved in any situation or occurrence which brings him or her into public disrepute, scandal or ridicule, or shocks or offends the community, or derogates from his or her public image or reflects unfavorably upon HeroesHype, or any of the other products, services or sponsors of HeroesHype

2.4. Prize Awards.

The teams that successfully place in the Premier Series Cups will receive the following point values as well as monetary prizes:

The awarding of prizes is void where prohibited or restricted. No purchase is necessary to enter the Premier Series.

National, state and local taxes, including VAT taxes, which are associated with the receipt or use of any prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner. All cash prizes will be paid in US dollars.

Winners will be required to complete and submit to HeroesHype all governmental and tax forms required to receive a cash prize, including an IRS form W-8 or W-9 and any other forms required by the country in which the player is a resident. Additional paperwork that HeroesHype requests, including waivers, indemnities and releases, must be submitted before HeroesHype will provide the winner with any prize. Prizes are not transferable.

No substitutions or exchanges (including for cash) of any non-cash prizes will be permitted, except that HeroesHype reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value for any non cash prize.

All Eligible Participants must be verified by HeroesHype to ensure their eligibility prior to being declared a winner and/or receiving any prize. Display of statistics in the game (e.g., on a leader board) during the League does not entitle any Eligible Participant to a prize. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of any winner, HeroesHype will resolve the dispute using the email addresses of Team Members used on the Account.

As a condition of being awarded any prize, winners will be required to execute and deliver to HeroesHype a signed affidavit of eligibility and acceptance of these Specific Rules and an indemnity and release of liability. In the event that a winner is under the age of majority, the winner’s parent or legal guardian will be required to execute and deliver such documents. Failure to return a signed affidavit and related documents within seven days may result in forfeiture of prize. Potential winners are responsible for ensuring return of all required materials; proof of sending will not be considered proof of receipt by HeroesHype.

Cup payouts will occur on the last Friday of each month.

Points standings will be posted on the HeroesHype website after every Cup.

2.5. Spectating and streaming.

Only verified spectators are allowed in games (HeroesHype Admins, affiliated streamers).

Players can stream their PoV but require to have at least a 30 seconds delay on their stream.

Non-affiliated streams are prohibited.

Any sanctioned spectators such as tournament admins and/or affiliated streamers may not be rejected by the teams. Refusal to comply will result in disqualification.
