Email: Campus Notification: COVID-19

March 28, 2021

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Campus Community,

The university has received information indicating that an individual has tested positive for COVID-19, and was on campus while they may have been potentially infectious with the virus.

The individual was last on campus on March 22 in both the Northbank Center and the William S. White Building. The individual was tested on March 24, and the university was notified on March 27 that they tested positive for COVID-19.

The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) has been notified and will conduct further contact tracing. If you have been identified as a “close contact” in this case, the Office of Environment, Health and Safety or the GCHD will reach out to you directly with specific guidance and direction.

You can read more about the reporting illness processes for employees and students here, as well as the university's ongoing response to COVID-19. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that all members of our campus remain vigilant and adhere to the established protocols of face coverings, physical distancing, hand washing, and other measures we all know so well.

An additional step you can take to protect yourself and others is to sign up to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available to you. Please make sure you are registered through the GCHD, the Michigan Medicine Blue Queue as well as other area pharmacies to receive your vaccine. You can also check the MDHHS Vaccination website for other vaccination opportunities outside of Genesee County.

Stay healthy and stay safe.
