Fifth Grade Newsletter No 19
January 8 - 12, 2018

Welcome back to school! I trust you all had a wonderful winter break.
This week the students will be allowed to start decorating their NATION NOTEBOOK. They will have until the end of January to turn it into me complete. They will need access to a computer to print off colorful photos or they will need art supplies to create a design that is representative of the nation that they chose. It must stay on topic for their country. So, no kites and pets on the front.
Martin Luther King Day is Monday, January 15th and we will not have school or daycare on that day. Please remember to put that in your calendar.
We still need about 25 shampoos for our giving project. If anyone can donate more that would be very helpful. Thank you for those who are participating.
Concerning our Science project, I am changing the dates. I would like to give your student more time on the science project so they will need to start thinking of ideas for their project starting beginning of February. Our science projects will not be as detailed or complex as middle school but will contain all of the steps that they require over there. They will have four weekends to do their experiments etc. The science project will need to be comparative. (comparing two or more) I will show them a website in computer lab where they can get all of their ideas at. This website is a huge help, but if they have other ideas they can present them also. I know how some of you like to get a head start so I am posting this here early and will post this paragraph again in the February newsletter.
