Updates and Reminders for the week ending 4.19.24 | |
This Week We… Math: Students worked this week on multiple strategies to add 3 digit numbers, including the make a ten/hundred strategy, compensation, and place value dots. ELA: We read a different narrative on Ruby Bridges first day of school!  Students filled out a brochure with what information they have learned about Ruby. Phonics:  Students finished up unit 11, cumulating in an assessment on the long /e/ sound. Science/ Social Studies: None this week. Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Students reviewed the DIVE matrix and the expectations for our classroom.  (See below for links that provide more details!) | Next Week We Will… Math:  Students will continue with different strategies to add 3 digit numbers, as well as adding 4 two digit numbers.
Phonics: Â We will begin a new unit in Fundations, focusing on the /oi/ sound spelled oi and oy. Â Trick words for this unit will be favorite, early, and ocean. Science/ Social Studies: We will begin a new unit on the properties of matter! |
Moments to Celebrate! As we start Quarter 4, we just want to take a moment to celebrate all of the work that 2nd graders have achieved this school year!  We have one quarter left before these kingfishers are 3rd graders, and they are on track for being well prepared! | We Need Your Help As a reminder, please make sure to label your child’s outerwear in case it gets put into lost and found. Just wanted to remind 2nd grade families that our school policy is not to bring in sweet treats for birthdays!  Tardies will be given out at 7:57.  Please make sure your child is at school to be on time for class! |
