Position: Micro Video Creator (PT, Volunteer)

Location: Remote, US-based organization

Reports to: Chief Programs Officer

Time Commitment: 5 - 10 hours per week

Wevise is a US-based nonprofit founded in 2022. Our mission is to make careers in the technology industry more attainable and create more diverse and inclusive tech communities through equitable access to mentorship, education, and career opportunities. We’re a team of committed volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about leveling the playing field in tech (and beyond).

Our first program, which launched in June 2023, is a mentorship platform for those looking for personal or professional guidance in the technology industry, with a focus on those from disadvantaged communities or with additional barriers.

Overview:
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Micro Video Creator to produce engaging short-form videos that capture our brand's message and connect with our audience. This role will focus on crafting compelling video content for social media platforms and other digital channels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, script, and produce high-quality micro videos (30-90 seconds) that resonate with our target audience.
• Utilize various formats, including animations, interviews, and testimonials, to create dynamic and engaging content.
• Collaborate with the Learning and Development Manager to create learning videos that align with the goals of the mentorship program.
• Edit raw footage to produce polished final videos, incorporating graphics, music, and other visual elements as needed.
• Work closely with graphic designers, copywriters, and other team members to ensure cohesive branding and messaging.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas and concepts for video content.
• Provide regular reports to the Chief Programs Officer on program outcomes, participant feedback, and areas for improvement.

Requirements:

• Passion for the Wevise mission of providing equitable access to mentorship, education, and career opportunities in the tech industry, especially for underrepresented and disadvantaged communities.
• Proven experience in video production and editing, with a portfolio showcasing short-form videos.
• Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools).
• Strong understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and their video requirements.
• Excellent storytelling skills and the ability to convey complex ideas in a concise manner.
• Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
