Record of the Second Council of Marshall

CENSUS OF THOSE PRESENT

Present at the Council:

His Most Venerableness, the McQueen, Karsten Armstrong,

Then the Cardinal, numbering one,

His Eminence, Cardinal of North America, Isaiah Schroeder,

Then the Archbishop, numbering one,

His High Excellency, Archbishop of Minnesota, Timothy Boersma,

Then the Bishops, numbering two,

His Excellency, Bishop of Marshall, Zechariah Bergjord,

His Excellency, Bishop of the Stanley-Township, Jack Pederson.

THE OPENING OF THE COUNCIL

Celebrated under His Most Venerableness, the McQueen, Karsten Armstrong, in observance of the traditions of those sent before us, on the fourth day of the month of May, 2019.

He said unto them: “May peace be with you.”

They answered: “And with your card decks.”

REGARDING THE VALIDITY OF COUNCILS

The venerable Council of Marshall, by the authority invested in them by the Most Venerable Majesterium, presided over by the McQueen, hath ordained and decreed that a council may only be considered licit if at least half of the bishops and above in the area are present at the council, or there be at least three bishops and/or above present, whichever is greater.

REGARDING THE PLURALITY OF BANDS

The venerable Council of Marshall, by the authority invested in them by the Most Venerable Majesterium, presided over by the McQueen, hath ordained and decreed that there shall be a multitude of Bands, all in communion with the the Band of Thieves proper, La Bando Universala, headed by the Majesterium and the McQueen, that shall be able to have their own traditions and interpretations of Canon Law.

        These Bands shall in the US be limited to no more than 3 per state. The leader of these Bands shall report back to the McQueen on a monthly basis.

REGARDING MARŜHALA

The venerable Council of Marshall, by the authority invested in them by the Most Venerable Majesterium, presided over by the McQueen, hath ordained and decreed that “marŝala” shall be synonymous with “ortodoksa” (orthodox) in Thieves’ Esperanto.

REGARDING SAINTS

The venerable Council of Marshall, by the authority invested in them by the Most Venerable Majesterium, presided over by the McQueen, hath ordained and decreed that saints shall henceforth be referred to as Venkuloj - overcomers.

REGARDING THE CEREMONY FOR THE DEATH OF A VENKULO

The venerable Council of Marshall, by the authority invested in them by the Most Venerable Majesterium, presided over by the McQueen, hath ordained and decreed that, if proper for the given venkulo, a ceremony shall be held to celebrate their life in the case of their death. The ceremony shall be set up by having a picture of the venkulo, with flowers or a relic next the the picture, and three candles surrounding them. Then a hymn shall be sung, and a round of Thieves’ Uno shall be played in their memory.

REGARDING DRAWING AND DISCARDING

The venerable Council of Marshall, by the authority invested in them by the Most Venerable Majesterium, presided over by the McQueen, hath ordained and decreed that in the Mallokic Band of Marshall’s Canon Law, citing the tradition of the players in Marshall, if someone draws a card they can discard, they can discard that card immediately and draw another card.

REGARDING +2s and +4s

The venerable Council of Marshall, by the authority invested in them by the Most Venerable Majesterium, presided over by the McQueen, hath ordained and decreed that in the Mallokic Band of Marshall’s Canon Law, citing the Color Confusion rule, plus twos and twos of the same color can be discarded on each other, and +4s and 4s can be discarded on each other. However, +4s act as the color that was most recently in play when being discarded on.

THE CLOSING OF THE COUNCIL

All members of the Council then did the formal exit procedure, circling and repeating “May peace be with you, and with your card decks” three times, thus ending the Second Council of Marshall.
