Blockify Privacy Policy

Welcome to Blockify. We build privacy-first content filtering for the web. This Policy explains what we (the Blockify Browser extension) do, what data we handle, why we handle it, and the choices you have.

What Blockify does

Blockify’s mission is to reduce tracking and unwanted content across the web while keeping your data safe.

• On generic websites & blogs: Blockify removes trackers, tracking scripts, and intrusive pop-up/push ads.
  
• On content web platforms: Blockify removes third-party tracking scripts and audio/video ads.
  

Where feasible, these protections run locally in your browser. We do not use your information for targeted advertising and we do not sell your personal information.

The information we collect

We designed Blockify to collect as little information as possible. Some information is needed to make the extension function reliably, stay secure, and improve over time.

1) Content filtering on your device (default behavior)

To filter trackers/ads, the extension inspects page elements and text on your device. This processing is typically ephemeral—used to decide what to block or redact—and the underlying page content isn’t sent to our servers.

2) Technical & usage data

We may collect extension diagnostics and aggregated usage data such as: extension version and settings, browser and OS type/version, general extension activity (e.g., error logs, update checks), and aggregated, de-identified usage statistics. This information is not linked to you personally and is handled in de-identified/aggregated form to guide stability and feature quality.

How we use information

We use information only to:

• operate, maintain, and improve Blockify’s features;
  
• ensure filtering performance and reliability;
  
• debug issues and resolve crashes;
  
• analyze aggregate usage to make product decisions; and
  
• respond to your support requests.
  

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Information sharing and disclosure

• Trusted Service providers. We may share aggregated or de-identified analytics with trusted service providers who help us operate, maintain, and improve Blockify (e.g., cloud hosting, diagnostics).
  
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests (such as a court order).
  
• No selling. We do not sell your information to advertisers, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we process (for example, encryption in transit, access controls, and internal policies). However, no internet service can be 100% secure.

Data retention

• De-identified data (server-side). Retained only as long as needed to improve filtering quality and reliability; periodically reviewed for continued necessity; then deleted or further aggregated.
  
• Technical & usage analytics. Kept only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy; then deleted or further de-identified.
  
• Support communications. Retained until your issue is resolved, then deleted within a reasonable period. Aggregated, non-identifiable statistics (like counts of issue types) may be kept longer to understand trends.
  

Your choices and rights

• Use Blockify without sharing personal info. The extension can run without you providing personal details.
  
• To opt out of sharing de-identified data - email us to opt out at hi@getblockify.com
  
• Uninstall or disable anytime via your browser’s extension settings.
  
• Request deletion of support correspondence by emailing us at hi@getblockify.com
  

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

Appendix: Key definitions (for clarity)

• “De-identified” means data where direct identifiers have been removed, and where we maintain measures not to re-identify a person.
  
• “Anonymized/aggregated” means data that cannot reasonably be linked back to an individual, often combined with many other data points to understand trends.
  
• “Personal information/PII” means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to a particular person or household.
