NFAA Open Compound Team National Championship
***This category is for Pro/Amateur Archers and will have a higher registration fee due to BTB contingency pay outs***
FS- PRO & Amateur
All of the following divisions and age groups are competing in one team event. The team event will NOT impact the individuals score or competition. The teams are 2-person teams. The team scoring is the best single arrow score of the team, of each target. “Best arrow”.
The NFAA (FS- PRO & Amateur) Team National Championship will support the following division. Teams will not have separate categories for gender, Teams can be male/male, male/female, or female/female. Teams can be formed by shooters in the following age groups and are not gender specific. Shooters will have a handicap to provide a fair competition for all our shooters (see rules below 4.0). Please refer to the max distances and stakes in our Rules & Schedule tab.
Teams will shoot two arrows per target (one arrow per shooter), only scoring the highest arrow value per target. The team score will not impact the archers individual scores and participation in the individual National Championship score and awards (the arrow shot for individual and the one shot for team is the same arrow-only 1 arrow per target per archer).
Managed by BTB (Break the Barriers)
These rules may be changed at BTB’s discretion.

2-SHOOTING
2.1. 1 arrow will be shot at each target. This is the same arrow used to score individual and Team.
2.2. The archer must straddle an imaginary shooting line, which is marked by the distance stake and parallel to the target face, while shooting the required arrows, if possible. The archer will stand between the 2 marked distance stakes. No archer may advance to the target until all arrows have been shot by the group, except for yardages that are 25 yards or less if there is not adequate room to shoot at the 12 ring. Archers may elect to shoot at a clean target after all previous shooters in the group have shot and had their arrows scored. * The tournament will attempt to minimize this by having multiple targets at close distances. Only 1 arrow will be shot at those stakes.
2.3. One group shall not hold up the following groups. If one or more open targets in front and two or more groups back up, the delaying group shall allow backed up groups to shoot through. * This is applicable to any group participating in the tournament.
2.4. Group size will consist of 8 archers or 4 teams, all Pros will have a minimum of 2 Pros in their group.
2.5. No archer may practice on any shot of a course to be used for tournament shooting later the same day. Special practice targets will be supplied. *
2.6. In the case of an equipment failure the archer may have the needed time, as granted by a BTB & NFAA director, for equipment repair or replacement and may shoot arrows required to assure that the proper sight settings are accurate, within the 45-minute maximum time limit. Then, in the presence of a BTB & NFAA director, be allowed to shoot the targets missed. This occurrence of repair or replacement may not happen more than once on any tournament day. *
2.7. In case of inclement weather, the tournament shall continue unless the range has become unsafe as determined by the BTB & NFAA Director or appointed Tournament Officials. *
2.8. No alcoholic beverages may be carried or consumed on any range before, during, or after shooting hours. Anyone caught breaking this rule could be immediately disqualified and not be allowed to complete the tournament or receive a refund of shooting fees already paid. *
2.9. Tripods for spotting scopes and tripods for binoculars shall not be permitted. *
2.10. (3) Let down rule will be applied per arrow. A fourth let down will be counted as a shot arrow.
2.11. Off-ground skids or glances into the target shall not be counted. Arrows striking objects over the shooting lane may be re-shot. *
2.12. A dropped arrow is one which falls while being transferred from the quiver to be nocked on the string, or in preparation for a shot; or which falls from the string during a controlled letdown. (A dropped arrow may be re-shot). *
2.13. A shot arrow is an arrow that has been propelled by the string. With the exception of shooting rules # 2.11., 2.15. and 2.16., a shot arrow may not be re-shot.
2.14. Arrows believed to have passed through the target may be re-shot with marked arrows, which will not be scored if the doubtful arrows are found in the butt/backstop/landscape. *
2.15. Unsuspected pass-through: in any instance where an arrow is found to have obviously passed through in such a manner they cannot be properly scored and their location and the condition of the butt/backstop/landscape convince the group that the arrows did indeed pass through a scoring area, the archer may return to the shooting position and reshoot that arrow.*
2.16. Witnessed bounce outs, believed to have hit the target in the scoring area, will be re-shot. *
2.17. 1st through 8th place teams win the prize that was determined for that finish position. Based off team score, from best team arrow on each of the 85 targets and to include the team’s handicap(armature’s) only the top 8 teams will win a prize.
2.18. Shoot-off(s) for teams that are tied. The target is at a known distance, chosen by the BTB 3D Open director. Each team member will shoot only one (1) arrow. The best team arrow closest to the center of the 12 ring will be used as the tiebreaker, the winning team will win the higher place position and the other team will drop down. The top 8 teams are all that will be eligible for prizes.
2.19. Additional prizes. When 1st through 8th place teams are official, by rule# 2.17.,
2.20. There will be two shoot-off groups’, A and B groups. The A group will be the 1st place team to the 4th place team. The B group will be the 5th place team to the 8th place team. The prizes will be announced before the competition. The B group will shoot-off for the runner-up prize or B group prize. Only one prize will be awarded to one team that finished in the B group. The team that finished 5th will choose the position order of when they will shoot, then the rest of the teams will draw for their shooting order. Each team member will shoot one arrow, the best team single arrow closest to the center of the 12 ring wins the runner-up or B group prize. The A group will shoot-off for the grand prize or A group prize. Only one prize will be awarded to one team that is in the A group. The team that finished 1st will choose the position order of when they will shoot, then the rest will draw for their shooting order. Each team member will shoot one arrow, the best team single arrow closest to the center of the 12 ring wins. All judging and final decisions will be made by a BTB 3D Championship director.
3-SCORING
3.1 Picture-scoring
3.2. ONLY the center ring will be 12 points, the other two similar rings will be counted as the 10 ring, *see attached rule# 3.1., 10 points for the kill ring, and 8 points for the outer ring. The remainder of the target is 5 points. The insert line is not a scoring ring.
3.3. All arrows must be scored and recorded before the target, or the arrows are touched.
3.4. If a target number has multiple targets, the archer will only shoot one arrow. This is still only one target; this is to have more target selection if there is not enough room for multiple arrows because it is at a close distance.
3.5. Scoring is determined by the position of the arrow shaft; an arrow shaft need only touch the edge of the scoring line or ring to gain the higher value. In the event the edge of the spot or scoring line has become distorted or missing from arrow impacts, the scorer must visually reconstruct the natural arc of the spot or scoring ring to determine the value of the arrow in question.
3.6. Unless otherwise announced by the BTB & NFAA directors, cut lines, marker lines, pen or pencil lines, and indent lines marking the outside edge of the spot will be scored as the higher value.
3.7. If an archer doesn’t agree with the scorer’s arrow call, the archer may have everyone in the group inspect the arrow and call for a group vote, including the archer whose arrow is in question. The majority's decision will be final.
3.8. Arrows passing through the face, but still in the butt/backstop/landscape, may be pushed back and scored as hits in the circles through which they went. This does not mean that they may be withdrawn and then stuck back through the target. *
3.9. An arrow embedded in the nock of another arrow (generally known as a Robinhood) will be scored the same as the arrow it skewered. *
3.10. An archer who shoots arrows at the target more than the prescribed number shall lose the arrow or arrows of higher value. A penalty of one point will be assessed for each arrow shot over the prescribed numbers. *
3.11. Scorecards must be signed as correct by the scorekeeper and archer. Once submitted a scorecard cannot be retrieved for purposes of changing totals. An archer who has signed and submitted a scorecard as correct which has incorrect total(s) may be disqualified. * 2 score keepers per group, 2 scorecards for teams (doesn’t include individual). Handicaps that are used must be marked on the card at the specific target-ONCE USED IT CANNOT BE CHANGE.
