EMPLOYMENT WITH THE MOUNTAINEERS

BACKGROUND CHECK INFORMATION

All potential Mountaineers staff must have the ability to pass a national criminal background and sex offender check in alignment our Child Protection Policies. Background checks will only be conducted after a conditional job offer is extended.

Our background checks consist of the following:

The results of your background check, conducted by SterlingOne, will remain confidential and will be seen only by Human Resources or by limited, necessary designees. In general, job candidates will be disqualified from consideration for ever having been found guilty or entered a plea of guilty, nolo contendre (no contest), or Alford Pleas, regardless of the adjudication, for any of the following:

  1. Any Felony conviction involving violence
  2. Any Felony conviction involving a minor
  3. Any Felony conviction involving a sexual offense

Should any pending charges described in “A”, “B” or “C” be discovered, or should any charges be brought while on staff, the individual will be suspended from working with youth until such time as the charges have been cleared or dropped.

In addition, job candidates will be disqualified if they have been found guilty or entered a plea of nolo contendre (no contest), or Alford Pleas, regardless of the adjudication, for any of the following within the past seven (7) years:

The Mountaineers reserves the right to review “White Collar” felony/misdemeanor convictions on a case by case basis.

The Mountaineers reserves the right to deny or revoke a job offer based on any other information not included above that we feel would be an inappropriate basis upon which to work as a staff for The Mountaineers or Mountaineers Books.
