The portrait I made is about self growth. The reason it's about self growth is because it's something everyone goes through. I have experienced self growth in the past year. I have kept working on graduating high school. A butterfly represents how we go through so many cycles in life. The patch work on one side shows how you change but also keep things that you like or are similar with. They show how someone can be very different and like a lot of things and still be you. I changed my mind and started completely over 3 times until this. I had to find different fabrics I liked and cut them. This relates to the American dream because this shows how the butterfly reached its full potential. This work relates to the exhibit theme because it's how I self identify.
