MUSIC

All music must be age-appropriate and free of any apparent profanity or vulgar language. In an effort to preserve the Player Center’s family-friendly environment, infractions of this rule may result in deduction of score or disqualification.

All music must be submitted on cd or jump drive, and must be clearly labeled, with routine name, contact name, age group, and category. Contestants are highly encouraged to bring back up music should we encounter any technical difficulties with your master copy. The Player Center will not adjust the speed or make cuts in any music.  The Player Center is not responsible for any music that is not reclaimed at the completion of the event.

JUDGING

Judges are comprised of championship-caliber studio directors and performing dance professionals.  Judges are well-trained in multiple genres of dance and are sensitive to the various skills represented by the dancers’ differing ages and levels.  This mixture of age, breadth of dance experience, and extensive background in performing arts contributes to the diverse range of feedback our judges offer competitors.  Every effort is made to provide feedback in five main areas: technique, choreography, age/skill level, appropriateness and performance skills.

SCORING

A panel of three or more judges will score each routine on a system of 100 points per judge.  The score sheet includes technique, 30 points; execution, 30 points; presentation, 30 points; choreography, 10 points.  Ties will be broken based on scores in: 1) highest technique, 2) highest presentation, 3) judges’ decision.  Judges’ decisions are final.

SCHEDULING

Performance schedules with approximate times will be posted on the CFA website and, upon request, we will email a copy of the schedule.  It is imperative that performers be prepared to compete 1 hour prior to your scheduled performance time. Please note that costume changes that must occur between 3 or less routines will be accommodated. The Player Center has the intention of running each show on time, if not early, and may adjust the schedule in an effort to do so. Please note that habitual late offenders or routines believed to delay the competition may result in deduction of score or disqualification.
