Guest Speaker: Carley Walker, Wreaths Across America
- Looking for Active members to donate to program.
- Currently there are 5600 graves at the Winchester National Cemetery
- They have 1700 wreaths covered so far
- The wreaths are 17 dollars a wreath and 5 dollars goes to the local civil air patrol
- The cut off for wreaths to be purchased for this year is November 22nd but of course you can still donate after that date it will just go towards next year’s date
- The Volunteer Day of is family friendly. The day of event is December is 14th.
- You can purchase by cash or check.
The executive committee will vote to donate 6 wreaths one for each branch of the military to the cause.
New Business:
- Committee will vote to add more money to help the veteran to go to London- ($250)
Announcements:
- Bill North had a successful honor flight with 42 veterans able to go. It was a great experience. The next flights are already scheduled for next year with are April, May 31st and September of next year.
- Andrew
- Toys for Toys boxes are located in the Winchester Hospital and VA Hospital. (Nfcu Branch on Berryville Ave also has one located inside the branch)
- 3rd Friday each month is a Woman’s cooking class at the VA
- Nov. 9th is a Free 5k at the Medical center
- Shepherdstown will have a free Play on Veterans Day at the War Memorial.
- DAV Christian- Golden Correll they will have a table all day for fundraising. 3k raised in emergency grants have been raised. Apple Blossom committee donated 2k to DAV
- American Legion- Sweats for Vets- Berryville- Post 21 does the socks to keep the vets warm, On the 11th day of the 11th year of the 11th hour the veteran of the year is chosen which is a great event to attend
- VFW- post 2123- Job Fair is Thursday November 7th from 1-4 pm at the National Guard Armory. Looking for business’ and just for people to come to look for a job.
- Virginia Works- Oct. 30th- there will be a Virtual Job Fair
- Shenandoah University had there Grand Opening for the Hive on Oct. 25th
- Nov. 9th Veterans will be able to get into the Shenandoah game for free . Game starts at 1 and Mission BBQ will be hosting the food
- Team Rubicon- Wellness and safety fair – Can provide labor if you have any vets that need labor – put in wheel chair ramps ect.
- Leslie – Red Cross- ARC new ex Director in Charleston on boarding currently.-
- Wellness programs continue through Dec
- Holiday for Heros is currently ongoing – Last year they did over 500 kits
- Honoring our Vets Blood Drive is Nov. 8th 8am -2pm at West Oaks Farm Market
- Nov 13th the Chamber of Commerce will have a mixer 5:30-7:30 – HIVE location
