UAL Awarding Body - Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Prod. & Tech. (Animation & Game Design)
Unit 8 - Project Proposal
Name: | Decquan Wilkinson
Project Title (or working title): | Godly Destruction
Preferred Pathway (Animation or Game): | Game
Section 1: Project Rationale (approx. 100 words) Reflect on, review and summarise your progress and achievements through the first seven units of the qualification. What skills and knowledge have you acquired? How has this influenced your choice of pathway?
The skills that I’ve learned throughout the whole units and how they can help me would be learning how to make a game/code in Construct 3, plus the soft skills I picked up throughout other projects are communication, time management, creative thinking, and teamwork. Still, since this is for my FMP I will have to work solo on a big project on my remembering and improving on the skills through the FMP. I would say the skill I would have to work on the most to improve so I can my game look good is the art style for it, so I would need to improve that majorly.
| |||
Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words) Clearly explain the concept and aims of your project, the research and ideas that will support its development and what you anticipate producing. What resources will you need to realize this idea?
The main route of the theme I’m going with is more like Chinese and Japanese, and with these two themes, It could be a beat ''em-up game/platform game. The game would involve a lot of different mechanics with different actions when changing them up and using different controls. I would say the run time for the game per level would properly be fifteen minutes each because if they were to speed run then fail then they can repeat it with the knowledge they gain from trying to speed run it and go medium pace at the game instead of running in not know a thing. I would properly go with invisible tutorials for my game showing words instead of showing them normally how to pass. I would involve voice acting in the game for Sfx and other stuff. But of course, my ideas are gonna change over the weeks because I might not be able to stick with what I said so I might shorten anything I think of. What will support me would be Adobe software, Construct 3, the internet for the references as well for my bibliography, and YouTube videos to teach me what I might want but don’t know how to do it.
Section 3: Evaluation and Reflection (Approx. 50 words) Explain how you will reflect on and evaluate your work, as both an ongoing activity and at the conclusion of the project. How do you intend to record your decision-making process and how will you document changes to your ideas as the project progresses?
Every week at the end, I'll take a look at the project and compare it to where it was a week ago. I'll also review my goals, which are related to this action, and use the Gibbs Reflective Cycle to compare and contrast them. All of this will be documented on my blogger, of course. To ensure clarity in the reflection, any modifications or improvements to the project will be included in a separate paragraph within the same section.
Section 4: Research Sources and Bibliography Record any initial research sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use. Your sources of research should be as wide as possible and could include libraries, galleries, books, magazines, films, computer games, websites, blogs, social media, radio programmes, archive material etc. Where appropriate, you should use the Harvard system of referencing.
For our primary research, we went to a museum based on Japanese mythology, and what I saw was the tale of Momotaro, this myth caught my eye when I read the story. For our secondary research, So far, there has been a compilation of manga, games, websites like Wikipedia, and other unaffiliated sites included in the bibliography, and YouTube videos deconstructing the myths.
