This quick tutorial will show you how to find a particular Organization in the Project Tracker. While the following examples are focused on Organizations, the same guidelines apply to searching Funding Sources as well.
These search tools can be used when entering Project data or when browsing the grids in Project Tracker. If you are currently entering a Project and are trying to find an Organization or Funding Source there, go straight to the “Tips” section. Otherwise, start by using the instructions below to go to the Organizations page.
Go to the RCD Project Tracker and click on “Program Info” in the header bar. Go to either the full list of Organizations or Funding Sources by selecting the appropriate option from the drop-down menu.
On this page, you will find a grid showing all of the organizations in the RCD Project Tracker. The white boxes at the top can be used to search and filter results.
Try it! Search a keyword such as “Fire” in the Organization box and see what appears:
❌ Don’t: Only search for Organizations using the scroll bar - there are nearly 500 Organizations in the Project Tracker and more are being added every week; it’s easy to miss something!
✅ Do: Use the filtering tools to narrow the number of results - they’re easy to get the hang of!
❌ Don’t: Search too many words - if the Organization is not entered exactly the way you expect, you might not find what you are looking for.
✅ Do: Try typing a single keyword that identifies the Organization you are searching for.
❌ Don’t: Use typos - the filters will only return exact matches.
✅ Do: Experiment with different keywords if you don’t find what you’re looking for at first.
❌ Don’t: Search for an acronym in the “Organization” filter - you won’t find what you’re looking for!
✅ Do: Try searching acronyms in the “Short Name” filter.
If an Organization or Funding Source is not in the Project Tracker, it’s simple to add it. Just click “Request Support” under the “Help” tab and send the Project Tracker administrators a message with the name of the Organization(s) you’d like to add, and we’ll respond shortly.
Happy Project Tracking!
