Congratulations to the CHHS Class of 2024, who has been offered over $6.7 million dollars in Scholarships.  87% of our Senior class plans to attend a two or four year college or university next year.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK: (5/19 - 5/25)

Dance Team tryouts starts on Monday, May 20th and go through Wednesday, May 22nd from 2:30 - 3:30 after school in Room 509.  You must attend all three days.

May 24th during Pirate Time, there will a Women’s Flag Football interest meeting in the Distance Learning Lab.  This newly created Women’s sport will run from September to November.  If interested, sign up in Alltimely to attend.

All library books and take home chrome devices should be returned to the Media Center as soon as possible to avoid accruing fees and fines.

Congratulations to our Lady Pirates Stunt Team! They are Back-to-Back North Carolina Stunt Champions!

Cell Tower Update - Please plan to attend the Planning Board Meeting at 6 pm on May 21st to voice your opinion of how this project could benefit the cellular service in the CHHS and surrounding area. The meeting will be held at the District Courthouse in Smithfield.  Address:  207 E. Johnston Street, Smithfield, NC.  

Attention students and staff:

The end of the school year is near, but we still have some drama going on in the drama department!  On May 28th and May 29th at 6PM in our auditorium, the Pirate Players will be performing the classic American comedy You Can't Take It With You.  TIckets will be $5 in advance and $7 at the door.  See Mrs Nixon in Room 508 for details.  Teachers and staff, as always - if you would like a family pass for either night, please email Mrs Nixon and she will get one to you this week.

Congratulations to Heather Whitley, CHHS Leading with the Heart 2024 Receipient!  It is a pleasure to have YOU as a part of our Pirate Family.

HOSA is taking donations of all forms of glasses, this includes sunglasses, prescription glasses and glasses with no lenses as long as they are in good condition.  They can be turned in to Mrs. Rowe’s (249) and Mrs. Alford’s (242) classrooms.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK: (2/18 - 2/24)

Congratulations to our Boys Swim Team, who represented the Pirate Nation well at the 4A State Championships.  Luke Wiervill swam season best times in his individual 50 Freestyle and 100 butterfly.  Ben Aston swam a personal record in his 100 breaststroke.  The boys 200 Free Relay of:  Ben Aston, James Cotham, Alex Carroll and Luke Wierville set a new school record of 1:28.97.  The boys 400 Free Relay of:  Owen VanSchaick, Luke Wierville, James Cotham and Ben Aston set a new school recordof 3:12.75.  Congratulations to our Pirate Swimmers!

 There will be a Men’s Tennis interest meeting on Monday, February 12th during Pirate Time in Coach Lassiter’s Room, Room 315.  All guys planning to try out need to attend this meeting.  Please sign up in Alltimely under Tennis Interest meeting.  Any questions please see Coach Lassiter in room 315.

Spring Track tryouts will start on Wednesday, February 14.  Any athlete interested in tyring out must have their physical and paperwork completed in Dragonfly.  If you have any questions see Coach Loeetin room 218.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK: (2/4 - 2/9)

Congrats to the JV Boys basketball team on their win Vs Cleveland Wednesday night (1/31).   Zoean Mcneill led the guys with 11 points. Jermaine Goode added 10 points, Noah White had 9 points, Chris Hughes had 8 points, Isaiah Neal scored 5 points, Saki Papadopouls added 4 points and Landon Holderfield rounded out the scoring with 2 points. It was a great team win for the JV Boys Basketball team!¨

Voter Registration Thursday, February 7th during lunch:  Form requires a NC ID# (i.e. DL, permit, ID,etc) or the last 4 digits of the SSN.  17 year olds can vote if turning 18 by November 5th and ALL 17 year olds can pre-register.  Any registered voter who moved or wants to make any changes can do an update - including staff.

There will be a STUNT interest meeting on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in room 326.  If you cannot attend, please stop by room 326 to see Coach Langley.  Practices will begin on Wednesday, February 7th.  To be able to practice, all forms in Dragonfly must be up-to-date, including an approved current physical form.

Winter Dance - Saturday, February 10th (7:00 - 10:00 pm in the Cafeteria.  Tickets are on sale during lunch $10

Congratulations to the Men's and Women's Swim Teams on winning their Conference Championship Meets! The women's team was led by senior Chloe Gore, who won both the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle and was named co-conference swimmer of the year. The men's team was led by senior Owen VanSchaick who won the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke and senior Luke Wierwille who won the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly. Both Owen and Luke were named co-conference swimmers of the year as well.

Congratulations to the swim team on an outstanding season!

GSA and Equity are extending the school wide coat drive! From Monday January 8th to Friday January 19th, drop your lightly used jackets off to Mrs. Snipes Room (334) or Mr. Jones’ Room (337). Key Club Members will be able to earn volunteer hours if they donate! These jackets will be donated to local homeless shelters around Johnston and Wake County! Start the new year off right and donate!!!

Evening Academy is closed beginning Thursday, January 18th. It will restart on Monday, January 29th to start off 2nd semester.

The wrestling team finished the regular season last night defeating Garner high school, 51 to 21. The pirates are now conference champions and remain undefeated on the season.

The Pirates football team will be holding an Interest Meeting for all returning and new players on January 31st at 2:30 in the Auxiliary Gym.

The Pirates Football team is looking for a student photographer to document the team. Interested students should see Coach B in room 329.

Are you in the mood for some wacky fairy tales?  This Friday night, the Pirate Players will be performing The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon  in our auditorium at 6:30.  It's a hilarious version of many of the fairy tales that you've probably heard of but never knew how they were originally written - including Rapunzel, Cinderella, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and the Princess and the Frog...just to name a few.  Make plans to come out and see this show this Friday!   See Mrs Nixon for more details.

Last Wednesday, the track team competed at Southeast Raleigh. The team competed well with JR McLean placing 3 in both the 300m and long jump, Jahzara McIver placed 2nd in the 500m, and Ashley Cole placing 4th in the shot put.

The track team competed on Saturday at the Liberty University Premiere Meet. The team came ready to compete with Brad Lucado placing 4th in the shot put, Brad Pawlak winning the shot put, Morgan Pollard placing 4th in the 3200, Jahzara McIver placing 5th in the 500 and qualifying for the State Championship meet, and the boys 4 by 200m team of Kai Gonzalez, Nick Holman, Tyson Harden, and James McLean placed 2nd. Make sure to congratulate these athletes as they represented our school proudly!

Congrats to the JV Boys basketball team on their 52-42 win over Cleveland on Friday. Zoean Mcneill led the pirates with 16 points. Noah White added 9 points and Isaiah Neal scored 8. Saki Papdopoulos and Xavian Theet dominated the paint and with defense and rebounds and combined to score 9 points. Micah Melvin and Jermaine Goode made huge contributions with their defense, passing, pushing the pace and added 7 points for the team. Luke White, Jordan Smith and Dylan Barton also had great minutes and contributed to the win. Keep up the good work guys.

Thursday: Today is the final Key Club meeting of the semester during Pirate Time.

The wrestling team is Now 10-0! They defeated Clayton last night 59-24 and Fuquay Varina 69-12.

Congratulations to the Lady Pirate cheerleaders for winning the Greater Neuse River Conference Cheerleading Championship.  This win makes Corinth back-to-back conference champions.  Savannah Pleasant was runner-up for Cheerleader of the Year.  In addition, Lexi Martins, Anna Grace Maynor, and Callie Jo Richards were selected as all-region cheerleaders.  Great job to the entire team!

The winter track team competed yesterday at Willow Spring High School. The team had a great showing with many top place finishes: Mahnoor Humayun placed first in the pole vault, Mitchell Mullins placed 2nd in the pole vault, Natalie Neal placed 1st in the mile, Lena Warren placed 3rd in the mile, Seth Roy placed 1st in the 2 mile, Coen Dunkin 2nd in the 2 mile, Bradley Hummel 3rd in the 2 mile, Morgan Pollard 2nd in the 1000m, Jahzara McIver placed 3rd in the 300m, Brad Pawlak won the shot put, the boys 4 by 800 team of Coen Dunkin, Seth Roy, Michael Estrada, and Chris Torricelli placed 3rd, the girls 4 by 800 team of Emily Morris, Natalie Neal, Mandi Pollard, and and Morgan Pollard placed 1st. Way to go track!
