The New Jersey Mini-Documentary Challenge
for Grade 6-12 Students

NJECC, the statewide leader in leading, inspiring and transforming education through technology is proud to offer our first annual New Jersey Mini-Documentary Challenge for Grade 6-12 students.

The 2022 Mini-Documentary Challenge Topic:
Better Together - A COVID Success Story  in Your Community

COVID-19 has disrupted our daily life and put a strain on families, schools, businesses, healthcare systems, and communities in general.  While there have been many losses and tragic stories resulting from COVID’s harsh impact on our communities, there also have been several positive narratives and silver linings breaking through the darkness of this pandemic. Our challenge to you is to identify and tell one small but amazing story that highlights how your local community came together to overcome COVID’s impact over the past two years.

Students and their teachers/advisors from any New Jersey public, charter or private school in the following grade level  bands may submit an entry for this FREE challenge  to be judged by an industry documentary director using the the following linked

Please upload your video to Youtube and email the link to with “NJ Mini Documentary Challenge ” in the subject line of the email before February 7, 2022 . Be sure to include in the body of the email the following information:

Name, School, Email (yours or your teacher), and Teacher’s name.

The winning team (students and teachers/advisors) in each category listed above will be invited to the annual NJ EdTech Conference on March 8th at Montclair State University. Each winning team and their teachers/advisors will receive free entry to the annual NJ EdTech Conference where their mini-documentary will be premiered and your team will be called on stage and presented with a trophy and a special gift. Transportation to and from the conference is the responsibility of the school.
