PRACTICAL NURSING
(Virtual)
Contest Description
The purpose of this contest is to evaluate each contestant’s preparation for
employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of practical nursing. Students will complete an online exam and submit a 5 to 7 minute video demonstration and PowerPoint presentation in lieu of an in-person competition.
State Competition
The State Competition will consist of the following:
Students will complete the written exams via SkillsUSA Championships Hub at 7 p.m. on April 9, 2021. Students should be ready to take the exam at 7 p.m. NO MAKE-UP TESTING TIME WILL BE PROVIDED. The schedule of contestant appointment times will be posted on the Champions Hub no later than April 2, 2021. Changes cannot be made to scheduled appointment times.
Resume, PowerPoint, and demonstration videos must be uploaded via the Champions Hub by 12 noon on April 10, 2021.
Knowledge Performance
The contest will include an online knowledge exam assessing knowledge of medical
terminology, body structure and function, nutrition, medications and nursing care. The exam may also include questions related to the SkillsUSA framework.
Skills Performance
Students will be required to submit a 5 to 7 minute video demonstrating and PowerPoint presentation to be evaluated by the judges. The contestants will NOT compete live.
Prompt: The prompt has been posted to the Champions Hub. You can access the prompt by logging in, going to your contest, and then clicking the “Contest Projects” tab on the left bar. Open the “State Practical Nursing Project” file to view both the video and presentation projects.

Clothing Requirement
Official Dress is NOT required for the State conference. Clothing must be unbranded with no words, images, or logos. SkillsUSA or SkillsUSA California attire is recommended.
