A School-Parent Compact for achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards.

Effective Compacts:

• Link to goals of the school improvement plan
• Focus on student learning skills
• Describe how teachers will help students develop those skills using high-quality instruction
• Share specific strategies parents can use at home
• Explain how teachers and parents will communicate about student progress
• Describe opportunities for parents to volunteer, observe, and participate in the classroom

The parents, students, and staff of Colbert Elementary School partnered together to develop this School-Parent Compact for achievement. This compact is revisited each year and changes are made based on student needs. Parents are welcome to provide feedback at any time during the school year by calling the school at (706) 788-2341 or visiting our school website.

Madison County Charter School System Goal for 2022-2023:

• The District Goal for Madison County Charter School System is to increase student achievement.

CES Goals for 2022-2023:

• For Language Arts and Math (3rd-5th), as well as Science (5th): we will increase or maintain the percentage of students scoring proficient (Levels 3 & 4) on the GA Milestones EOG to greater than or equal to the state average;  increase the weighted percentage of students scoring at Developing Learner or above (Levels 2, 3, 4) on the Georgia Milestones EOG to meet or exceed End-Of-Grade Improvement Targets for ALL students set individually for each school by the GaDOE as well as meet or exceed the state average.

• Using a variety of leveled text resources during instruction to increase vocabulary and reading skills
• Using writing assignments in ELA and Math to increase students’ understanding of important concepts, as well as their ability to explain and justify their answers using textual evidence
• Providing time during the school day for reading and math facts practice  in order to develop fluency and accuracy
• Using computer-based programs, such as IXL, that provide students opportunities at school and home to practice essential reading, writing, and math skills
• Providing parents with frequent updates on their child’s performance and progress

• Reading every day at both home and school
• Practicing math facts at both home and school
• Scheduling time each night to study and complete homework assignments
• Using resources such as IXL, Reflex, homework helper guides, student journals, and other school-approved websites to practice and complete ELA and Math activities
• Applying writing skills when solving and responding to literary texts and math problems.

• Utilizing school-shared resources to help his/her student complete math homework assignments  and study for assessments
