561. One habit I’ve abandoned is the morning pages a la Julia Cameron.  Bad me.  As a major component of The Artist’s Way, you start your day by turning out 3 handwritten pages of stream-of-consciousness words/rant.  I call them snot pages.  It’s about getting the junk out of your system.  I want to use the junk to lay an outline for more serious work instead of putting the words aside.

Notes from fitness ebooks: Old School Body Hacks

You might be asking yourself, “What does this have to do with getting into shape?” Most people look too far down the road when it comes to getting in shape. “I want to lose 40 lbs. over the next twelve weeks” I often hear. Forget about 40 lbs. Forget about the next twelve weeks! Commit to eating properly for your next meal. If you eat your next meal properly today, the 40 lbs. and next twelve weeks will take care of themselves.

The title of this book is Old School Body Hacks but the end result will be so much more than a fit body. You may want to lose some fat and build slimming muscle and be healthier. You need more than just to start exercising and eating right. You will need a holistic solution that empowers every area of your life not just your body fat levels.

I truly believe that you need energy to be successful in every area of your life, which includes getting into shape. The LACK of energy, vibrancy and strength permeates all areas of your life in a negative way. Conversely, HAVING energy can transform your life into something SPECTACULAR. You can have all the tools and ability in the world but if you don’t have the energy to use what you have, you will never reach your full potential.

What ultimately differentiates highly successful people from the rest of the pack? From what I see, the one common denominator of all successful people is their lifestyle which is designed around empowering habits. The most successful people in any field, those who are the best at what they do, whether it be athletes, lawyers, politicians, physicians, business leaders, musicians, parents, pastors, or sales people all have successful habits or in other words, successful mores.

Up to 90 percent of your everyday behavior is based on your mores. Nearly all of what you do each day, every day, is simply habit. More than anything else, this book is about lifestyle restoration through developing new empowering habits.

"Motivation is what gets you fired up and moving but your daily habits are what catapult you to success long after the motivation is gone!" -- John Rowley

But in order to achieve goals you must have empowering habits to support your desired outcome.

Are your habits helping you to be the person you want to be? Or do they have the opposite effect? Are your habits well thought out? Or are they ones that just developed over time and you're really not sure why you even have them? Now we are going to get into a little more detail on how to develop new empowering habits.

Also:  Rituals

Benjamin Franklin once said, "Many people die at twenty five and aren't buried until they are seventy five." These people just let life happen to them. They develop habits as time goes by that don't support their goals and become a slave to them.

The best way to eliminate or break a bad habit is by replacing it with something else. The bad habit is serving a purpose in your life. When you eliminate the bad habit you are creating a void, which needs to be filled by something else, or the bad habit will simply creep back into your life. If you overeat to relieve stress you need to find a more productive way to relax such as going for a walk or going to the gym.

In order to change your habits: 1. You must define them so write down all the habits that limit you. 2. Define your new successful habits in detail. Write down what new habit you will do in place of your old, limiting habits. 3. Develop an action plan for this new habit. This may be as simple as scheduling time to exercise, read your bible, prospect or return calls. 4. Keep it as simple as possible. Make it easy to be successful in all areas of your life.

If you are trying to eat healthy, clean out your kitchen and get rid of all the junk food. Simply refuse to have junk food in the house.

Here's how to develop habits that super charge a healthy diet and exercise plan. 1. Find your "Why." This is your purpose. 2. Put a plan together (This e-book will show you how). 3. Identify disempowering habits. 4. Replace those disempowering habits with empowering habits on a regular basis to close the loop.

I have not been willing to do the things I know will lower my blood sugar - diet and exercise.  I must take personal responsibility.

There is a direct connection between your body and your mind. Your mind is housed in your body. The same blood that flows through you body also flows through your brain. If you don't take care of your body, it affects your mind and if you don't care of your mind, it affects your body. There is no getting away from this fact. In fact, physiology is a key component to success in every area of your life including getting into terrific shape and shedding unwanted fat.

- what I call the Unit

Doing Is More Important Than Knowing

You will not get in shape by mistake. It takes deliberate daily action and the ability to take responsibility for yourself. That's right...yourself. If you want to lose the fat you will need to manage YOU! It isn't the new diet or exercise program that will get you in shape any more than the new self-help book will make you a millionaire. It isn't the information that makes the difference. It is the implementation of the information. It is what you do, not what you know!

I think one of the main reasons most diet and exercise plans fail is because of lack of belief.

Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it. Refuse to let what happens to you determine your attitude.

Stress eating is basically medicating yourself using food, which is one of the most powerful drugs available.

Are you still growing or are you letting the Mount Everest's in your life win?

I want to save you over thirty years of trial and error so you can get into the best shape of your life, so you can truly LIVE your life.

When you have more muscle your body utilizes more energy to operate, even at rest. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn during the day.

In fact, most MEN don't even have the genetics to build huge muscles. I have said it before, muscle burns calories, even at rest. As we age there is a natural decrease in muscle mass.

The King Tut Method • Set 1: Pick a weight with which you can get 15 repetitions, but only do 10 (this set will not be taxing). Rest 30 to 40 seconds. • Set 2: Do 10 more repetitions with the same weight. Rest 30 to 40 seconds. • Set 3: Do 10 more repetitions with the same weight. Rest 30 to 40 seconds. • Set 4: Do as many repetitions as you can--until you can't do another.

Most people think that lifting weights is only for building muscle. However, it's also one of the best ways to burn fat.

If you do cardio on your days off from resistant weight training, do it for 30 to 45 minute and go outside if you can. Walking, biking or anything that is low impact. Cardio is especially important as you age because it keeps your heart, circulatory system and blood lipids healthy and strong.

One parameter I will lay out is to never do more than an hour of essential cardio during one session because you risk burning muscle at that point. The key is to do the OSBH workouts and to stay active.

I like walking. Walking does burn fat but it also gets your endorphins going and makes you feel good. An added plus is that it is a great time to just be with yourself, unwind and think. I get some of my best ideas when I am doing cardio. It can also be a great time to talk with someone and catch up on the day’s activities and spend some uninterrupted time together.

The BEST type of cardio is the kind that you will actually do.

Exercise doesn't have to be boring, just look for ways to stay active that fit into your lifestyle. Cardio is only good if you DO it. So choose a time when you know you can and WILL do it. Of course, there is always the most effective time to do cardio. There are really two times that produce the best results. Cardio first thing in the morning before you eat, works very well because your body has been fasting for eight hours or more. When you are doing your cardio at this time, your body will start burning fat much faster than if you did it later in the day after you've been eating. Another very effective time is immediately after you have completed your weight training. The same principle applies. You burn your glycogen (blood sugar) when you are lifting weights and if you do your cardio immediately following you will begin burning fat faster.

This is one area that is too often over looked. If you're not getting enough rest, you will get over tired and be ineffective in every area of your life. You’ll chance getting hurt and not see the results of all the hard work you are putting into your workouts and nutrition.

A high-protein, moderate-carb diet helps you get and stay lean. Four to six protein-charged meals is the way to go, as you'll see. A "perfect meal" supplement to use daily is UX3. This is a whey-isolate powder infused with key nutrients and enzymes that can boost your immune system as well as build muscle and reduce body fat.

Protests against President Trump are getting beyond stupid.

I don’t know what people are protesting.

Losing Obamacare that has failed?  Removing aliens with final deportation orders?  Getting criminal aliens (2 million+) out of our jails and prisons?

prisoncost.png

Using those numbers, 2 million criminal aliens costs $62,572,000,000 per year.  Over 62 billion dollars a year.  And that doesn’t include another 55 billion a year for welfare benefits for other illegals.

As a taxpayer, is this the best use of your money?

Reporters are calling changes to immigration enforcement “draconian”.  Please.  What’s happened is illegal aliens not being worried about ICE.

Kids who are brought here by their parents, and who never get green cards or citizenship, are deported all the time if they are convicted of felonies.  Many do not speak their native language, but they are sent home anyway.

Even if you have a green card, and you commit certain serious felonies within 5 years of getting your LPR status, it can be revoked and you will be deported.

[They don’t call it deported anymore.  It’s now removal.]

And, by the way, there is no legal meaning of “Sanctuary City”.  It’s a fiction that certain cities will not enforce immigration laws.  They never have.  What they can choose to do is not use their funds or police departments to help enforce federal laws.  That’s fine.  That’s legal.

I just wonder how taxpayers feel about mayors who provide city dollars to help illegal aliens defend their individual cases in Immigration Court.

Where’s Willie Horton when we need him?
