Christmas is drawing near and vacation will be here before you know it. We have many activities planned these next few weeks. I will also be training the children to be in reading groups. They are excited! Also, the deadline to make any changes on our field trip to Crest Theater is Dec. 15th. We can only add on. If you did not sign up to go, you may do so before the deadline. Please let me know right away.
Pig Races: I am sending a reminder team list for the pig races. Please note what color team your child is on. You child may wear jeans & tennis shoes with the team colored shirt. If you choose not to dress, please send your child in a uniform. We need parents to come and help set up. If you are available, please meet in the gym at 8:30 a.m.
Congratulations to our top 9 sellers for the Frozen Food Fundraiser:
Gingerbread Houses: We will make our gingerbread houses Dec. 12th. I have attached the list of items you will need to bring. Be sure to check when your items are due because some families are bringing for the houses and some for the Christmas party.
Christmas Party: We are planning a birthday party for Jesus on Friday, Dec. 22nd. We will serve lunch at 11:00 a.m. and have birthday cake after. We are planning to sing a couple of songs and recite scripture. Menu: finger foods, carrot sticks & dip, Doritos/Cheetos/chips, fruit, and apple juice. Items for the Christmas party will be due on Friday, Dec. 22nd. Non perishables may be brought in early. Thank you! (I will need help for both events)
Student of the Week: We will honor Kyle Garcia this week and Chloe Hines next week. .Please send pictures and favorite items to display and share. Don’t forget to bring a special snack to share with the class. Kyle will take Bubbles home on Friday for the week end. Be sure to return him on Monday.
Christmas Program: Our Christmas Program is drawing near and Dr. Muntean is asking that last names from A-N bring cookies or brownies and O-Z bring drinks (no red) for the reception after the Christmas Concert. Please Note!! We will need you to bring in your child’s cowboy hat for our practice on stage by this Tuesday morning !! (Dec. 8th) The program will take place Tuesday, December 19th, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Please have your child there by 6:45 p.m at the latest. We will walk on stage at 6:50 p.m. and the concert will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Be sure to take your child to the restroom and meet me in the left front pew of the sanctuary. (The sanctuary doors will open at 6:30 p.m.) After the program we will return to that same pew when we exit the stage. Please pick up your child ASAP! Refreshments will be served after the program in the Atrium. You may bring the treats or drinks in the morning or take them to the Atrium before the program. We are also hosting a spaghetti dinner following the concert. Be sure to invite your family and friends; you will be blessed. Dr. Muntean is asking that you dress your child in Christmas attire or Sunday best. (No jeans or uniforms, please!)
Christmas Vacation: Christmas vacation begins December 25th- January 5th and we will return on January 8th. There is day care available the first week only. (Jan. 2nd-5th)
Progress Reports: Please let me know if you did not receive it.
Share Day: Please send in something that starts with the letter ( Mm).
This week we will be working on the following areas:
Math: We will introduce a new unit on addition. (I have some and adding some more) I have also started the children writing their numbers 1-15. I watch for reversals and correct formation. Each week or so, I will add 5 more numbers till we get to 100.
Bible: We will leave the Old Testament and introduce “Birth of Jesus”. Bible Verse: Review: “For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11. Learn: “ This shall be a sign unto you, ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”Luke 2:11-12.
Character Trait: Giving (joyfully parting with something special) We will hear Bible and today stories centered around this character trait.
Phonics: We will work on the letters (p) and (r). We will continue to review the vowels. We will continue to work in our Letter & Sound workbook this week. Pathways: I will send home two Pathway blending sheets this week. Please collect them and have your children read them throughout the week.
Sight Words: (eight, five, four and funny)
Language Arts: We will begin reading about the life of Helen Keller. We plan to watch an animated movie about her life. I will introduce new vocabulary words and read a few pages of the book each day followed by comprehension questions.
Social Studies/Science: We will introduce our unit on “Our 5 Senses”.
Handwriting: We will begin working on letters (r)
Music: We are getting ready for the Christmas Concert on December 19th.
