PROGRAM SPECIALIST, CARING FOR THE CAREGIVER (C4C) PROGRAM
Position Title: Program Specialist, C4C Program (Full Time, Exempt)
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Honolulu, HI (On-site/Hybrid)
Organization Overview:
Project Dāna has been providing compassionate support and services to Hawaii's kūpuna and their caregivers since 1989. Project Dāna fulfills its mission by matching kūpuna who need assistance with non-clinical services and activities with volunteers who want to help; by providing training, counseling, and support to family caregivers; and by providing education on issues and community resources related to aging.
Position Overview:
The C4C Program Specialist is responsible for implementing all aspects of the Caring for the Caregiver Program, including organizing program activities, providing counseling services, facilitating meetings and training, and collaborating with volunteers and community partners. This position ensures the program meets the needs of caregivers and complies with funding requirements while promoting Project Dāna’s mission of compassionate care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Implementation and Coordination:
- Implement program activities, including support groups, public presentations, and group training.
- Facilitate support groups and training sessions, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for participants.
- Coordinate purchases for refreshments and logistics for program activities and events.
- Coordinate the REACH Community training program in collaboration with other staff.
- Implement outreach activities to promote program services and engage participants.
- Counseling and Volunteer Coordination:
- Provide individual counseling services to program participants.
- Support volunteer counselors in delivering high-quality counseling services and maintain service documentation and reporting.
- Coordinate additional supportive services for participants by working with volunteers and staff.
- Community Partnerships and Outreach:
- Build and maintain relationships with local agencies, organizations, and businesses within the aging network to expand the program's reach.
- Communicate regularly with program participants, volunteers, speakers, facilitators, and community partners to ensure effective collaboration.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of program activities and client files, ensuring compliance with program funding requirements.
- Assist the Executive Director in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports, as required by funders and the organization.
- Report program expenditures to the Executive Director.
- Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
- Assist the Executive Director in evaluating program activities and services to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Respond to special assignments, such as representing Project Dāna at senior fairs and conferences.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, Sociology, Education, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with family caregivers and older adults; demonstrated experience in counseling and gerontology.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Apps (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, and Forms); Experience hosting and setting up Zoom meetings; Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative; Ability to relate to people of all ages, ethnicities, socioeconomic levels, and disabilities.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and access to reliable personal transportation for program activities.
Work Environment:
- The role may involve occasional travel within the local community.
- Hybrid working options may be available after an initial training period.
Compensation:
- $50,000 – $60,000 annually
