Elements of Design (EOD)

1. Watch the Elements of Design video 

2. Review the 7 Elements of Design or (Elements of Art)
3. On the 2nd page of your sketchbook, divide 4 pages into 4
4. Write this in the sections:

1. Section 1: write Elements of Design bold as a title
2. Section 2-8: Boldly write the name of each element.
3. Section 9: write Principles of Design bold as a title
4. Section 10-16: Boldly write the name of each principle.

5. Under each element definition you will add:

1. Title
2. Definition
3. Image

6. Under each element definition you have the option to represent that definition with an image with:

1. A drawing
2. A drawing or image of a famous artwork
3. A clipping from a scrap magazine

7. Define each element in a brief, but informative sentence on the left or right side of the page.

REMINDER:

Do NOT cut and paste the image or definition from the cheat sheet. Cheat sheet is for reference only.

1. LINE – 2-dimensional (length and width)

2. SHAPE

3. COLOR

4. VALUE

5. TEXTURE

6. SPACE – positive/negative

7. FORM (3-dimensional shape, aka “volume”)

(leave 3 empty pages in your sketchbook after the last Element)

1. Watch the Principles of Design Video
2. Review the 7 Principles of Design
3. Follow the directions in page 1 for the EOD.
4. Under each principle definition you will add:

1. Title
2. Definition
3. Image

5. Under each principle definition you have the option to represent that definition with an image with:
