Elements of Design (EOD)

  1. Watch the Elements of Design video 

  1. Review the 7 Elements of Design or (Elements of Art)
  2. On the 2nd page of your sketchbook, divide 4 pages into 4
  3. Write this in the sections:
  1. Section 1: write Elements of Design bold as a title
  2. Section 2-8: Boldly write the name of each element.
  3. Section 9: write Principles of Design bold as a title
  4. Section 10-16: Boldly write the name of each principle.
  1. Under each element definition you will add:
  1. Title
  2. Definition
  3. Image
  1. Under each element definition you have the option to represent that definition with an image with:
  1. A drawing
  2. A drawing or image of a famous artwork
  3. A clipping from a scrap magazine
  1. Define each element in a brief, but informative sentence on the left or right side of the page.

REMINDER:

Do NOT cut and paste the image or definition from the cheat sheet. Cheat sheet is for reference only.IMG_0270.JPG

2. SHAPE

3. COLOR

4. VALUE

5. TEXTURE

6. SPACE – positive/negative

7. FORM (3-dimensional shape, aka “volume”)
