Options, Fees & Policies for All Programs

1. PAYMENT OPTION

FACTS Tuition Management is our online payment program. Transactions incurred at the school, including Tuition and Incidental charges (pizza day, event tickets, etc.), will be paid through FACTS.  Once accepted, a FACTS account will be created through Online Enrollment. You will have the option for automatic withdrawal payments from a bank account (no fee) or charges to your credit card (2.85% fee).  Families can easily view and manage their tuition payments and incidental charges at any time through FACTS SIS.

An automatic payment method is required to remain on file, though other payment arrangements can be made before the payment due date in order to avoid the payment method on file from being billed automatically. Please contact our Business Manager at billing@mcsslc.com if alternate payment arrangements are needed. If the alternate payments are not made by the payment due date, the automatic payment method on file will be billed.

Through FACTS annual tuition is payable in monthly installments, depending on the schedule you have selected. Options include 10 months for the Academic Year and 12 months for the Full Year (includes Summer Camp). Tuition discounts are available for paying full tuition in one or two payments. For all payment options the first payment is due July 20.

During the Online Enrollment process you will have the option to pay all fees with your first tuition payment or blend them into monthly payments if selected (this option is not available for one and two payments discounts).

Tuition Discounts

  1. When paying your child's tuition in one payment by July 20, you will receive a 3% discount. Discount is applicable only toward tuition.
  2. When paying your child's tuition in two equal payments, July 20 and November 20, you will receive a 1.5% discount. Discount is applicable only toward tuition.
  3. When making monthly installment payments there is no discount.

2. ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

Full Year Option

  1. Students may enroll for the entire year, August 25, 2020 through August 13, 2021 (includes Summer Adventures Camp). Tuition does not include Winter Camp, Spring Camp, or Interim Camp.

†This option is only available for Toddler through Lower Elementary students. Upper Elementary students may only choose Academic Year.

Academic Year Option

  1. Students may enroll for the Academic Year only, from August 25, 2020 through June 4, 2021. Tuition does not include Winter Camp, Spring Camp, or Interim Camp.

3. FEES

  1. An application fee of $75 is required at time of application.
  2. An annual non-refundable Commitment Fee of $650 is required. This fee holds your student's placement until July 20, 2020, when the first tuition payment is due. Of the $650, $400 will be applied to your annual tuition total should your student be enrolled for the entire year, or if the Tuition Assurance Program is elected. $250 will be applied to the annual administrative fee which includes the $50 fee to establish your FACTS Tuition Management account.
  3. There is an annual non-refundable Teacher Development Fee. This fee enables our teachers to have the opportunity to attend Montessori conferences and provides additional professional development courses.
  4. There is an annual non-refundable Field Trip/Activity fee in addition to tuition to help cover the costs for field trips, special guests, enrichment activities, transportation, and use of other amenities. (Toddler students do not have this fee.)
  5. For new students enrolling in the Dual Language program, there is an annual non-refundable fee of $350.
  6. The Winter Sports program is optional for Kindergarten students and mandatory for Elementary students. The fee does not include rentals. Rental options will be provided. There is a non-refundable $250 fee associated with this program.

Fee Payment Options

All enrollment fees may be paid upfront or amortized with tuition payments.

4. SCHEDULE CHANGES

  1. You will receive a schedule confirmation with your tuition invoice.
  2. Beginning July 21 each year, there will be a $75 administrative fee for any schedule changes. Staff is established at the beginning of the year based on requests from applications and continuing enrollment forms. Changes after that date might require staffing changes that we may not be able to accommodate.

5. WITHDRAWAL POLICY

All withdrawals must be submitted to the Director of Admissions in writing. Any early withdrawal will result in the forfeiture of the entire $650 commitment fee. If you withdraw your child:

  1. Between July 21 and August 25, you will be responsible to make payment for 30 days of tuition, in addition to the forfeiture of the $650 non-refundable commitment fee.
  2. Between August 26 and November 30, you will be responsible for 50% of the academic year tuition.
  3. After December 1, you will be responsible for 100% of the academic year tuition.
  4. After January 31, you will be responsible for 100% of the academic year tuition plus summer tuition if you chose the Full Year Option.

6. TUITION ASSURANCE - OPTIONAL

The school budget at the Montessori Community School is based upon our planned enrollment for the next academic year. Our school relies upon tuition to fund our programs, compensate teachers and staff, and to pay fixed costs throughout the year.

Every year, a few students withdraw for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to, personal reasons, injury or sickness, death of a parent or family member, financial issues, emotional difficulties, and family relocation. Any of these issues are not only difficult for the families emotionally, but they also present financial issues for both the parents and our school.

Once a family commits to, and signs the 2020-2021 Continuing Enrollment form with the Montessori Community School, they are acknowledging a financial commitment and a legally binding agreement. The Tuition Assurance Program is designed to help families financially if the need arises while at the same time ensuring that school’s resources remain adequately funded. By electing to enroll in this optional program, a family can reduce their financial risk and obligations to our school.

If a family elects for their student(s) to participate in the Tuition Assurance Program, and the student subsequently withdraws, the withdrawing family’s/student’s obligation to the school will be limited to and prorated to the actual number of days attended, plus all fees associated with the student’s program level. Of the $650 commitment fee collected, $400 will remain applied to tuition and will not be forfeited. 30 days’ written notice is required for all withdrawals covered under this program. Should 30 days’ notice not be given, the family/student will be obligated to pay for any shortfall in notice, up to 30 days.

To enroll your student(s) in the Tuition Assurance Program, you will have the opportunity to sign-up at the end of the Continuing Enrollment form. If chosen, the program fee will be added to each student’s tuition statement. Enrollment in this program needs to be completed when submitting the Continuing Enrollment forms and cannot be added after submission.

The fee for the 2020-2021 Tuition Assurance Program is 3.5% of the student’s tuition and must be paid in full by July 20.

7. TUITION ASSISTANCE

The Montessori Community School has a tuition assistance fund available for families who may not be able to pay the full tuition amount due to their financial circumstances. Current MCS students are given priority for tuition assistance.  Applications must be submitted by March 31. Depending on the level of need exhibited by existing students, tuition assistance may be available to new families; however, to ensure adequate funding for our existing students, this amount will likely not exceed 20%.

All inquiries, applications, and supporting documentation submitted regarding tuition assistance are treated confidentially.

How To Apply For Tuition Assistance

MCS utilizes the FACTS Grant and Aid Program to process our tuition assistance applications. To apply for tuition assistance, go to online.factsmgt.com/aid and follow the instructions for completing the application. You will need to create a new account and there is a $35 fee to apply. There are several items of supporting documentation that are required to be submitted, so we encourage you to read over the application closely. Applications for tuition assistance must be submitted each year assistance is being requested.

How Need is Determined

The FACTS Grant and Aid Program provides a recommendation of the potential need based on the documentation provided, however, the awards are ultimately decided by our Financial Aid Committee.

Parents/Guardians Requirement

MCS believes that the primary responsibility for educational expenses lies with the child’s parents/guardians. Therefore, all parents/guardians must submit financial information to establish eligibility for financial aid. Regardless of marital or custodial status, parents/guardians must follow all the financial aid application steps.

8. MISSED OR SICK DAYS

The Montessori classroom is prepared to accommodate your child and his/her space is reserved. We cannot credit days or money for missed days due to vacations or illnesses.

9. EMERGENCY MORNING CARE AND AFTERNOON CARE

If your child is not already enrolled in the Morning Care and/or Afternoon Care Program, and you have an emergency arise where an early drop-off or late pick-up is required, you may sign your student up for a set fee. This option is dependent on a space being available.

10. LATE PICK-UP FEES

If students are not picked up at their usual pick-up time they will be brought to the office and a late pick-up fee will be charged.

11. IMMUNIZATION POLICY

Up-to-date documentation of a child’s immunization status must be on file for each child by the child's first day of attendance at the school. A child will not be permitted to start school until we receive the appropriate documentation.

Toddler and Early Childhood Student Requirements

A child attending our Toddler and Early Childhood programs is required to be immunized appropriately for age. This means a child has received all of the doses of each vaccine appropriate for the child's age according to current immunization schedules. Proof of immunity to disease(s) can be accepted in place of vaccination only if a document from a healthcare provider stating the student previously contracted the disease is presented to the school.

Exemptions in the Toddler and Early Childhood Programs

We accept only medical exemptions for Toddler and 1st thru 2nd level Early Childhood aged students. Documentation of an exemption must be provided to the school upon enrollment.

Kindergarten and Elementary Student Requirements

An up-to-date immunization record or an exemption form must be on file for each K-6th grade student by the child's first day of attendance at the school. Proof of immunity to disease(s) can be accepted in place of vaccination only if a document from a healthcare provider stating the student previously contracted the disease is presented to the school.

Exemptions for K- 6th Grade Students

A K-6th grade student is exempt from the requirement to receive a vaccine if the student qualifies for a medical, religious or personal exemption. Documentation of an exemption must be provided to the school upon enrollment. Your child will not be permitted to attend school until we receive the appropriate documentation.

Medical Exemptions

A student qualifies for a medical exemption from a vaccination if the student's legally responsible individual provides to the school:

  1. a completed vaccination exemption form; and
  2. a written notice signed by a licensed health care provider stating that, due to the physical condition of the student, administration of the vaccine would endanger the student's life or health.
Religious and Personal Exemptions

A local health department representative must witness and sign the Religious and Personal Exemption Forms. To receive a vaccination exemption form, the legally responsible individual who claims an exemption for the student must complete the online immunization education module from the Utah Department of Health. If the legally responsible individual who claims an exemption for the student declines to take the online education module, he/she can obtain a vaccination exemption form from a local health department and receive an in-person consultation.

Communicable Disease

Any child who is suspected of having a communicable disease is taken to the office immediately and must be kept at home until they are no longer contagious. The School Director or office staff will discharge the child to the care of his/her parent/guardians or to the person who has been designated by the parent/guardian to pick up the child.

When a child is suspected of having chickenpox, German measles, infectious hepatitis, measles, mumps, poliomyelitis, scarlet fever, whooping cough, diphtheria, meningitis or another reportable communicable disease, the local public health officer will be notified. Contact your physician regarding symptoms of these communicable diseases. A child may be re-admitted without a statement from a physician after having had a communicable disease only if the child has been absent for a period of time equal to the longest usual incubation period of the disease as specified by the Utah Department of Health.

12. NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

Montessori Community School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, ethnicity, national origin, disability, orientation or any other protected category in any of its activities, operations, admission policies, tuition assistance or any other program.
