K-6
Site-based Prep

K-6 will be responsible for ensuring students have readers/book bags and reading logs for students to take home. Students will be provided with leveled readers or practice; the school site is responsible for creating book bags. Principals should have their teacher leaders lead this work.

For children ages 2 to 5 years, limit screen use to 1 hour per day of high-quality programs (including TV, phone, ipad, etc.).

Parents should co-view media with children to help them understand what they are seeing and apply it to the world around them.

For children grade levels K-2, we are recommending no more than 2 hours screen time.

For children grade levels 3-5, we are recommending, 3 hours screen time, divided into online learning, movies, and social media time frames.

For children grade levels 6-8, we are recommending no more than 3-4 hours divided into online learning, movies, and social media time frames.

For children grade levels 9-12, we are recommending no more than 3-4 hours of screen time, divided into online learning, movies, and social media time frames.

Read to your child daily.  Have conversations about the story, make connections to your child’s experiences and the story, encourage your child to make predictions, talk about the “big words” in the stories.
