When is the application window?

The on-time application window opens on October 1, 2025, and closes on November 14, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

How do I apply to Lomita STEAM Magnet?

Visit the choices website and complete an application, and select Lomita STEAM Magnet as your school of choice.

Do I need to complete an application if my child is already enrolled at Lomita STEAM Magnet?

You do not have to complete an application if your child is currently enrolled at Lomita STEAM Magnet. (Only TK students need to complete a choices application.)

Do I need to complete an application for next school year if my child is currently a kindergarten student?

If your child is currently in kindergarten, you do not need to complete a choices application for enrollment for the next school year. They are already a part of our magnet program. TK students must apply through choices for Kindergarten.

Can I apply after the on-time window closes?

Parents may submit a Late Application. If space becomes available, the school’s Magnet coordinator will contact you. The Late Application does not guarantee placement at the school site.

Once I accept enrollment, do I need to complete any additional paperwork?

You will need to visit the Main Office and pick up an enrollment packet. You must complete and submit an enrollment packet before your child receives a classroom assignment.

Who can apply to a Magnet program?

All students living within the boundaries of LAUSD are eligible to apply, including English Learners, Special Education and Gifted/Talented students.
