Family Council Update- Sam Peacoe No update. Meeting was canceled due to the weather. Next meeting will discuss Algerbra.
Budget Update- Katie Shipley & Haley Neumann Katie discussed how the budget is doing well. Still need to spend the many budget line items. The library budget is in the process of being spent. Katie researched a stipend for the teachers, not a good idea with not showing a receipt. More teachers have used their reimbursement since the last month. Thank you Amy for the new sign in the Teachers Lounge. The T-shirt line has been spent. ( See attachment**)
Business
- Walkathon Pizza Parties. Katie has asked the board to approve a $600 increase in the Walkathon pizza parties. Board approved. The 4th and 5th grade had their pizza party. All parties should be done by the end of the month.
- Kendra Scott Book Drive results Book Drive brought in 40 books in total. Would be nice to give more in the community.
- More community book drives
- Bookfair- Bookfair is ready to go. Nadia has set a timeline to launch the promotion and website. The e-wallet will hold 25,000 dollars. On March 25th, the website will go live so families can preview the books online and set up their child’s e-wallet. The fair will be April 15-18 with family night on the 16th.
- Dance - The dance is this Friday. Many high school volunteers are scheduled to come. Pizza Hut gave us 10, and we paid for 20 pizzas. Questions if we told and pushed the idea that parents or an adult must attend with their child and not a drop-off event. Nikki said she would ensure those at the front door will be security and make sure kids have adults with them. No one will be dropped off. Notice on Facebook will also enforce the adult with a child rule.
- Movie Night- Movie Night March 8th from 6:30-8. We have a $200 budget. And now we must decide if we need a projector company to make this event work. Because home projector might not work for the space in the gym and the sound system.
- Multicultural Night Update - First MC meeting was last week. Teka is leading this committe. A team is working on the flyer which will go out at the end of February. MC committee will reach out to community support depending on family feedback. Nadia suggested reaching out to UVA language department. Next meeting will be in March.
- T-shirts- T-shirt are in. volunteers will sort them for the school on Wednesday and Thursday hopefully they will go out on Friday. All tshirts will be out on Friday.
- Art contest Nikki opened up about having an art contest in the spring and Lopez thought it was a great idea. However, Irani said name change could come before the Fall. We decided to wait for the fall incase the name change happens with a new mascot.
- Communication
- Newsletter online v. paper
Nikki wanted feedback on if the e-newsletter only was good for the Agnor-hurt community. Or should we do both. Many families said both in response. Sean Purnell and couple others said online works for his family. Teka said online is best because we send a lot of papers home already. Its a lot to translate and to make paper newsletters. Sam and Vivian believe that both would ensure the whole school would get the PTO news. Nadia offered to help and do the paper newsletter. We agreed that both would be beneficial to all families at Agnor Hurt.
- Beautification of the school With Spring around we should think about the pots in the front of the school or any other school outdoor project. The budget is 300.00
- Coffee Cart Feb 29th Katie Shipley and Amy Mcfarlan will do coffee cart.
- PTO Progress We have done so much and should be very proud. April is going to be a big month with bookfair, mulitculutral night and the smaller appreciation weeks. However, another board member said we need to think about those who do not participate on the board and what is the protocol for those who do not participate. Nikki said she would look within our new bylaws to find out what the rules are and go from there. (See attachment for progress**)
