SECTION #1: MARCH ROUTE
START @ LANGHAM PlACE (W1B 3DA - MARYLEBONE, LDN)
* This year’s march will assemble in the street on the southbound lane of Langham Place (the lane closest to the BBC building) prior to departing down Piccadilly.
* The Assembly Point/Access Point for the accessible bloc will be situated just outside the steps of All Souls Langham Place Church (2 All Souls Place, W1B 3DA).
END @ WELLINGTON ARCH, HYDE PARK CORNER (W1J 7JZ,LDN)
* The march will make its way into the Hyde Park Corner green (via Apsley Way) and conclude in front of Wellington Arch monument.
* PLEASE NOTE!: Stewards and traffic wardens will facilitate safe crossing of the A4 ring road, please don’t attempt to cross elsewhere!
SECTION #2: MAPS
* MAP #1: ROUTE & STOP-OFF POINTS
* Image Description/Alt Text:
This map shows the full route of the march.
The map is in black and white, with yellow dots highlighting the route, stop-off points, and WC/toilet locations.
There are three yellow flags marking the start of the march at Langham Place and the two stop-off points, and a yellow star marks the end of the march at Wellington Arch.
From Langham Place, the march will lead down Regents St, with the first stop-off point (1) roughly in front of Burberry/Zara. This stop is in the middle of the (closed) street, a short walk away from Oxford Circus Station. There is no seating, but immediate access to a number of eateries and places to duck out of the march for food or a bathroom break.
The march will then turn onto Piccadilly and continue straight to the second stop off point (2) at the Statue of Diana at Green Park.
This stop-off point is outdoors in a large, open green space where there are benches, grass, and improvised sitting space. It is immediately next to a small park café selling refreshments, directly in front of Green Park Underground Station, and across the street from a Tesco and an M&S.
Finally, the march will continue on Piccadilly and along the A4, all the way to Wellington Arch, entering Hyde Park Corner via the south-east corner entrance from the ring road.
* PLEASE NOTE!: A Google Maps version of the full route is available here (LINK).
* MAP #2: MEETING POINT
* Image Description/Alt Text:
This map shows the Meeting Point for London Trans+ Pride 2024. The map is in black and white, with yellow highlighting important locations and the start of the march route.
The accessibility meeting point for the start of the march is marked with a yellow flag and is located in front of the All Souls Langham Place church.
The assembly point for the rest of the march is marked with a transparent yellow on the map, throughout Langham Place towards the BBC.
The map shows the direction of the march with yellow dots, heading south from Langham Place, down Regents St.
The Access Area will be clearly marked by three flags – two different Disability Pride flags (see below), and one flag bearing the white and blue ISA/wheelchair symbol and the words “NOT ALL DISABILITIES ARE VISIBLE”.
* FLAG 1: DISABILITY PRIDE FLAG (V1)
* Image Description/Alt Text:
This image shows the older “lightning bolt” or “zig-zag” Disability Pride flag. Instead of the typical rainbow, it features a bold zig-zag design of five colours – sky blue, yellow, white, red, and green – arcing from top left to bottom right across a black background.
* FLAG 2: DISABILITY PRIDE FLAG (V2)
* Image Description/ Alt Text:
This image shows the newer Disability Pride flag. It features a band of the same five colours as the original flag – red, yellow, white, sky blue, and green – arcing across the black background from top-left to bottom-right. Unlike the original Disability Pride flag, the newer flag’s colours are much mellower and more desaturated, and instead of a zig-zag, the band of colours is a smooth diagonal line.
* FLAG 3: ISA/WHEELCHAIR SYMBOL FLAG
* Image Description/Alt Text:
This image shows a flag design featuring the easily recognisable white and royal blue ISA (International Symbol of Access) or “wheelchair symbol”. The symbol is a minimalist, side view graphic of a human figure seated in a crescent shape suggestive of a wheelchair.
Around the symbol, two concentric blue circles form a thick round border in which “NOT ALL DISABILITIES ARE VISIBLE” is written in blue block capital letters.
* MAP #3: WELLINGTON ARCH & HYDE PARK CORNER
* Image Description/Alt Text:
This map shows the final point of the march in front of Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner.
The map is in colour and shows an aerial view of Wellington Arch, and the surrounding park with yellow, slightly transparent shapes highlighting important areas, and yellow flags marking points of importance.
The march will be arriving in Hyde Park Corner via ring road crossing onto Apsley Way, in the south-east corner/entrance of the park.
The Loud Area is located in the north-east corner, where Piccadilly ends.
Right above it, towards the arch, is the Main Seating Area. In front of that, towards the arch, is the Access Slope, for people who use BSL and/or have access needs but are happy to sit on a grassy slope.
In front of that is the Access Area, which is located right in front of the arch. There is a yellow flag on the right side of this area on the map, marking the location of the stage. BSL interpreters will be stationed on the left-hand side of the stage.
Behind the arch, at the intersection of Grosvenor Place and Grosvenor Crescent, are the Chill Zone and Family Friendly Area.
To the right, in front of the Royal Artillery Memorial, a yellow flag marks Accessible Toilets and the First Aid Station, as well as an ambulance, and service dog refreshment area.
On the east side of the square, in front of the Statue of the Duke of Wellington, a yellow flag marks the hydration station and the meeting point for people who have been separated.

If you have a Radar Key, do bring it with you, just in case!
SECTION #7: ACCESSIBILITY
We know it isn’t possible to ever provide a fully accessible event. Nonetheless, we’re putting a lot of effort in to ensure that disabled members of our community feel considered, included, and respected in our vision of pride.
This year, we’ll have the following provisions:
- BSL Interpreters: A team of 3-4 BSL interpreters will be providing live translation of speeches and chants. They’ll be located near the truck(s) at the front with the accessible bloc during the march, and will be situated on the left-hand side of the stage during speeches.
Interpreters can be visually identified by their white high-vis vests. They will also be wearing stickers/holding flags depicting the BSL symbol/logo in the colours of the trans flag (see below).
* Image Description/Alt Text:
This image shows the logo that interpreters will be displaying somewhere on their person. It depicts a simple graphic of the commonly used BSL Interpreter logo – two hands making the sign for “interpreter” – in the colours of the trans flag atop a black background.
- More Designated Access People: This year we’ve recruited several disabled mobility aid users to our team who have played a major role in identifying barriers of access and leading the rest of the team in planning out route logistics, event management, and stewarding plans.
They’ve ensured that key locations have been recced and assessed for general suitability for mobility aid users, and that the final route has been confirmed one all members of our Access Team felt personally able to manage in wheelchairs (manual or powered) or with a walking stick.
At least 3 of these Designated Access People will be stationed in the accessible bloc throughout the march, and at Access Meeting Points before and after to offer support or answer questions as best as they can.
You can identify our access staff and find them in the crowd by looking for the three disability flags they’ll be flying – see SECTION #2: MAPS for flag descriptions and images.
They’ll also have smaller Disability Pride flags clipped to their wheelchairs (see right), and will be wearing light blue high-vis vests with “LT+P ACCESS TEAM” written on them.
The Access Team will all be meeting in front of All Souls church at Langham Place prior to the march!
- Alternative/Shorter Route Options: We realise that a march of this length simply isn’t doable for everyone and can leave people putting pressure on themselves to keep up at the expense of becoming exhausted or ill.
To try to accommodate for this, we’ve come up with the solution of presenting attendees with the option to just walk a shorter portion of the march by catching it from either of the two stop-off points. See SECTION #2: MAPS for Google Maps routes from either point to Wellington Arch!
Additionally, you have the option to skip the march altogether and join us in Wellington Arch for speeches and community vibes from 4:00pm onwards. Choose whatever route or plan works best for you and your energy levels!
- Access Trained Stewards: This year LT+P’s core team and a number of stewards underwent training on disability and accessibility awareness with Quiplash – a queer, trans, and disabled-led organisation who support and advocate for disabled performers and artists, and do consulting, workshops and training around disability and inclusion.
Stewards who have completed the access training sessions will have stickers on their high-vis vests to indicate this (see below). Members of the Access Team will also have stickers.
* Image Description/Alt Text:
This image shows the stickers that will be worn by stewards who have completed access training. The stickers are of white text outlined in black on a white background. In the centre of the image are three minimalistic human figures/symbols viewed from the side – a person using a wheelchair, a person with crutches, and a person with a cane – and the BSL interpreter symbol.
The text reads, “MAKE ROOM For Trans+ Disabled Joy” along the top and bottom of the image.
- LT+P Access Hub (Signal Group Chat): We’re working to make getting in touch with us for accessibility concerns and information much quicker and simpler. You can now join our LT+P Access Hub group on the free Signal app for a direct line to our dedicated Access Team leads!
The channel will share access info and updates, answer any enquiries, and be available on the day of the march for live access updates and comms.
Please learn more about signal and about downloading the app here: https://signal.org/
Join the Access Hub Here!: https://t.ly/ue0_o
* Admins must approve Signal group requests.
- Free Earplugs: This event will be loud and the route takes us primarily down busy main roads. Expect raised voices, instruments, traffic sounds, cars honking, etc.
Our access staff and stewards will be able to provide foam earplugs on request, but if you have your own high quality earplugs or ear defenders, we highly recommend you bring personal noise protection!
- Free Face Masks & Hand Sanitiser: Stewards, welfare officers, and members of the access team can supply hand sanitiser and face masks to anyone who needs it, just ask!
These supplies are limited to a few hundred, so to ensure there is enough to go around, we still encourage you to bring whatever you can from home!
- A Masked Section: Out of respect for those in our community who may still need to diligently protect themselves from illness, we STRONGLY encourage any and all attendees to wear face masks or coverings. High quality, medical grade N95 masks are the ideal, but scarves, bandanas, and some balaclavas will work in a pinch!
This is especially important near the front of the march, where we’ve been asked to make room for a fully-masked section. The Masked Section will be a part of the wider accessible bloc and may widen to include the full bloc depending on how many people there are in the section.
Masking is MANDATORY* in the masked section.
We’ll have signage in the accessible bloc and at the meeting point to direct you to this area. Please do not smoke in or around this area! COVID self-testing is still encouraged before attending. Stay home if you feel you could be ill or symptomatic.
*(With exemptions.)
- Queer & Trans-Led Welfare & Security Support: Local trans & queer-owned and operated company Safe Only Ltd will once again be providing two paid, all-queer and trans teams of Welfare Officers and Security.
Welfare staff may be able to provide more specific and person-focused welfare assistance and harm-reduction. They may be able to help you where a normal steward or medic can’t.
Having a hard time or overwhelmed? Look for the fluorescent pink high-vis, or ask a steward to direct you to a welfare officer.
Security personnel are there to keep an eye out for conflict and act as an extra layer of protection between ourselves and police, potential harassment, etc.
- A Colour-Coded Steward & Staff System: In addition to welfare, we’ll have teams of around 400-500 volunteer stewards, – mostly allies within the broader queer community and from mutual solidarity coalitions.
They are generously supporting with their time and labour to help facilitate the march, offer assistance to attendees, answer questions, and generally help ensure that London Trans+ Pride 2024 runs smoothly!
If you need something, ask a steward or welfare officer.
There are several different “levels” or groups of stewards and other personnel — to differentiate between them all easily, they’ll be distinguished by different colours of high-vis.
STEWARDS & STAFF: HIGH-VIS COLOUR KEY
HIGH-VIS COLOUR | ROLE |
Red | Head Stewards |
Red | Bloc Leaders |
Purple | General Stewards |
Orange | Safeguarding |
Green | First Aid/Medical |
Pink | Safe Only Welfare |
Yellow | Safe Only Security (SIA-licensed) |
White | BSL Interpreters |
Light Blue | Access Staff |
- On-site Accessible Toilets: There will be two accessible toilets on-site in Hyde Park Corner (in front of the Royal Artillery Memorial) from AccessoLoo!
AccessoLoo are a Northern Ireland-based and disabled-run, not-for-profit organisation tackling bathroom inequality, and the only disability-led organisation on the island providing mobile Changing Places facilities at pop-up events.
They are providing us with two spacious modular units that will have toilets and sinks, rails, alarm pull-cords, and fold-away cots for changing.
You can read more about them on their website at accessoloo.org.
We expect high demand for toilet facilities, and are dedicating these ones explicitly for the use of our disabled community members and those who otherwise need them most essentially.
We urge attendees to respect and honour this system of equity and to plan to use other toilets outside of the park if doing so is simple for them, so as not to create very long wait times.
These units will be mobile cabin-style ones that can be hitched to a vehicle, driven in and parked for the duration of speeches etc. They will be driven out of the park after the demo ends at 6:00pm.
* See SECTION #5: TOILETS for more information!
Advice For Sensory Issues & Fatigue:
- We expect a large crowd of 20,000+! If you have difficulty in crowds we’d encourage you to do what's most comfortable for you – whether that’s being in the disabled bloc at the front of the march ahead of the crowd, sticking close to the edges, dipping in/out at stop-off points as needed, or even skipping the march altogether and just coming straight to Wellington Arch.
- Prefer to leave early? Find yourself overwhelmed and needing quiet and space from crowds and speeches at Wellington Arch? Head to the Chill Zone on the south side of Hyde Park Corner, behind the arch.
- Entrances to the rest of Hyde Park and to Green Park can be found on either side of the ring road on Apsley Way if you’d like to make your way out of Hyde Park Corner altogether to find benches or a larger green space.
- Even if it’s overcast on the 27th, we still expect it to be bright and visually overstimulating. Please bring sunglasses or eye protection if you need them!
- Stimming and tics are welcome here – bring whatever fidget toys, blankets, needlework, stim jewellery, etc. you need to make the environment less stressful for yourself.
- BUDGET YOUR ENERGY. Protests are physically demanding; know your limits, check-in with your friends, and absolutely don’t feel obligated to complete the whole march route or stay the full duration.
SECTION #8: FAQ
Q: WHEN DO I NEED TO BE THERE?
A: We’ll be gathering at Langham Place from 1:00 pm on 27th July. The march won’t depart for an hour, but if you’re travelling a long distance or travelling slowly, we suggest getting there as early as 12:00 pm!
Q: I THOUGHT THE MARCH BEGAN FROM TRAFALGAR SQUARE?
A: This was our initial plan, but due to the potential for disruption or violence from a concurrent event in Trafalgar Square we’ve changed the route and meeting point.
PLEASE DO NOT GO TO TRAFALGAR SQUARE.
Avoid the area and pubs near it if possible, particularly when leaving.
Q: WHAT’S THE EARLIEST/LATEST I CAN ARRIVE OR LEAVE?
A: Our team and stewards will be arriving earlier in the day to set up, so attendees are free to arrive at Langham Place as early as 12:00 pm, and at Wellington Arch from around 3:00 pm.
Attendees are also welcome to stay at Hyde Park Corner or in the surrounding area after London Trans+ Pride officially concludes around 6:00 pm, but any subsequent gatherings won’t be supervised by our team.
For safety we suggest leaving Wellington Arch before dark.
Q: HOW LONG IS THE MARCH?
A: The total distance is about 2.7 km (1.7 miles).
On an ordinary day, the full route takes about 40 minutes to complete. Given that we’ll be moving much more slowly, we estimate that the march will take around 2 hours on the day.
*PLEASE NOTE!: The route is mostly flat, with a difference in elevation of about 13m at the most (min:14m, max:27m).
The highest point of elevation is at the route’s very start; the full march should be on a slight downhill slope.
We will be travelling on paved roads, sidewalks, and paths.
Q: ARE THERE ANY ALTERNATIVE ROUTE PLANS IF I DON’T FEEL UP TO THE FULL DISTANCE?
A: We’ve identified some useful stop-off points along the march route beforehand, as well as some shorter, alternative routes to the full march distance.
We hope this will make things potentially easier for some attendees. You should be able to hop out of or join into the march from any of these spots without much difficulty.
* PLEASE NOTE!: If you’d prefer to skip the march and join us for speeches and community vibes from 4:00pm onwards, we suggest arriving directly to Wellington Arch!
Q: HOW DO I FIND THE “FRONT” OF THE MARCH?
A: Prior to departing from Langham Place, the accessible bloc will form up in front of the steps of All Souls Church (see SECTION #2: MAPS, for more details).
Our staff will have signs/flags/banners to identify themselves – they’ll assist in organising the bloc behind the truck, and aiming to make sure that no one is left behind! There will also be a large banner just behind this bloc once it’s formed to provide some space and separation from the rest of the march behind it – look for these banners and signs to find the bloc once it’s on the move!
Our stewards will also be available to help you navigate if need be. The easiest way to ensure you can find your way to the front is always to arrive early if possible.
Q: WILL THERE BE FIRST AID? WHO DO I APPROACH IF I NEED HELP?
A: Yes. There will be an ambulance and trained staff from Elite Medical present for the duration of the march and stationed in Hyde Park Corner for the latter half of the demo. There will be flags to indicate a First Aid and ambulance station on the south side of Hyde Park Corner once we arrive.
Stop any of the stewards, and they should be able to help direct you to designated first aid or welfare staff depending on what assistance you may need.
Please know your own physical and mental limits, don’t be shy about taking breaks,and keep an eye out for others as well as yourself where you can.
Again, be considerate of the health of others and DO NOT ATTEND if you feel you could be ill with a cold or flu. We also remind you to mask up in the accessible bloc to protect yourself and others from illness on the day!
Q: MY QUESTION HASN’T BEEN ANSWERED HERE!
A: This document isn’t exhaustive, and it may not address everyone’s needs!
If there’s anything specific to your needs or concerns that we’ve missed, let us know via email at access@londontranspride.org, or join our Access Hub group chat on Signal for more immediate updates and a direct line to our access team!
